I had a roommate who would never break down boxes before she put them in the recycle bin. But lo and behold, every time she went to thrown the next one in it would be broken down, as if there was some sort of box breaker down fairy. WELL DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT FUCKY FAIRY WAS?!?! When we first met we lived about an hour away. That wasn't so bad because I had other friends up in the area, made frequent visits and all that. Then I had to go back to school about 4 hours away. We still made that work for a while. Then she moved across the country, haha. I still made 2 trips out to visit her until the distance apparently became too much and she broke it off.

Nah, this was about 6 years ago. Oddly enough, we sort of got back together for a few months a couple of summers ago. We lived about 3 hours away from each other and never made it anything official. Can say I never expected that to happen. Life is strange sometimes.

This is the right way to look at it I think. To the Yankees and their fans I essentially say "tough shit, we lost our closer too." I hope the Sox and the rest of the division are able to take advantage of this (although I think with Soriano and Robertson they have much better options to fill the closer shoes than the Sox did). But I wish no ill will on Rivera himself and think it's a shame if his career ends this way.
