No offense, but this is completely against human nature. There will always, in any society, be people who are more angry, cliquish and retributive than the norm. If one of those people also happens to be eloquent and charismatic, a democratic society with no power structures has a serious problem, does it not?

What would be lessened is my confidence. Right now, my money is green - regardless of how much people may hate me, or what happens to the social contract, someone will always take my money in exchange for food and housing.

In an anarchic society such as you describe, couldn't an accidental misunderstanding lead the town to distrust or hate me? If a person with great eloquence and spirit happened to dislike me, couldn't they turn the town against me? In today's world, I take my money and move elsewhere, where people provide me food for cash. In an anarchic world, isn't it possible that I could get blacklisted entirely?

Pure ethanol (alcohol) metabolizes to 7 kcal per gram (compared to 9 kcal/gram for fats, and 4 kcal/gram for proteins and carbs). Beer would have additional calories in the form of carbohydrates. Vodka would not.

Eh, just don't ever tell them. I think it's fine what you did, especially if you know they'd be worried sick.

Some people might say you should have been truthful, but I view it as a reason not to display excessive negative emotion (anger, worrying, sadness) - people will withhold things from you for your own good.

Back in like 1996, note that this is years before we had any web searching that was actually effective, there was this guy's site where he collected hundreds of different interesting links.

It was personally curated content of the best of the web, and it was awesome. He had reference material, jokes, interesting tech sites, personal pages (usually geocities) of people who had done or built neat things.

I think it's important to separate "having a drink" and the popular connotation of "drinking". You can have a beer and a burger with a friend, without getting into the whole binge drinking culture of going out and getting wasted.
