Exactly. Aang walked a path of nonviolence. His spirituality didn't just make him the Avatar, it played into who he was as a person. Conflict was always Aang's last desired course.
In contrast, Korra's got more of a "Shoot first, ask questions later" mentality.

This is pretty much exactly what happens. Sherlock is able to deduce everything about Batman except his name (since Bruce Wayne didn't exist yet) just by looking at him. At the end, Batman acknowledges him as the world's greatest detective.
