What's r/anarchism's stance on Che Guevara, and what he achieved? by kearvelliin Anarchism

"The enemy of our enemy is our friend." Hmmm. Problematic.

Oakland anarchists (accompanied by Captain America) bring the motherfucking ruckus to the Capitol to give white supremacist South Africa Project members a piece of their mind. by teaganismin Anarchism

You know I agree with this. Maybe organize a Chicago Spring BaySol group, see if a Bay Area Transplant in Chi can host meetings or even put up travelers?

Me too. It's quite a conundrum. :\ I'm trying to talk about it w/OO folks a lot to see what others think. It's a start, at least!

While I don't think the G8/NATO meetings should happen w/out a response, they are basically a trap. People will go, get the shit kicked out of them, many will end up in the system, and the meetings will go on like every year. As an "Oakland anarchist" or whatever, I'd really like for folks to consider expending energy in a different way. /blasphemy

Occupy Wall Street Calls for May Day General Strike by thepinkmaskin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 0 points1 point ago

What I argued with our "General Strike" in Oakland is that by the broadest definition it was a general strike. People from different trades withheld their labor. But dictionary definitions as an argument really bother me, so it was kinda hypocritical.

If you call it a strike, you will find that it's much harder for already organized labor to participate. Individuals have no protection from being fired, locals can lose their charter, and internationals can be sued by every company in management. It's tricky. And say what you want about labor, that only 10% of workers are in unions, that fuck the unions because of their bureaucracy, but they have a lot of sway with people, at the very least because the majority of people who aren't in unions wish they were.

[–]unrealriot 1 point2 points ago

I totally agree! Just like people don't understand a lot about class in the US, they also don't know a lot of labor history or current laws & issues. A lot of work needs to be done to get this information disseminated.

Occupy Wall Street Calls for May Day General Strike by thepinkmaskin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 1 point2 points ago

Word. But I wish we weren't calling it a general strike. Remember how PDX ILWU wisely said they'd take all their workers to Longview? They didn't call it a strike or a shutdown, but that's what it would have been. It's smart, and doesn't allow them to say it's not a "real" strike but encourages mass work stoppages.

The KKK is holding a "Pro-White" rally in my city scheduled for early March. What should I do? (X-post from Racism) by Orblemin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 10 points11 points ago

What was the awesome clowning action that happened a few years ago where the nazi rally would yell "white power" and then the clowns would go, "Wife power?" and then the rally yelled "white power!" and the clowns said, "White flour?" and threw flour all around?? Do that, it was fucking cool.

F*** the police. by MasCapitalin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 1 point2 points ago

The point is that he doesn't get to "keep" OO "nonviolent" anymore than he has a right to police people's actions by outing them (or threatening to) on camera.

He doesn't get to determine what falls into the acceptable range of diversity of tactics, and for someone who doesn't participate except passively, meaning all he does is film and commentary, not actual organizing, he sure gets a lot of fucking attention. I know some organizers who spend their unemployment on walkie talkies for actions while he get cash from an online account so that he can... put his opinion on the internet. Kinda lame, don't you think? He gets paid to show people stuff, but the people who made the stuff happen just get criticized on his stream. When you break it down, it's pretty exploitative.

I'm over it. Until he makes a stance in solidarity with EVERYONE in the Oakland Commune, and not just those that adhere to his white, straight, cismale, liberal politics, he is on my shit list.

Funny, I didn't realize he ran OWS or the Oakland Commune.

F*** the police. by MasCapitalin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 1 point2 points ago

I don't just mean with what he's saying while at marches, I mean what he's saying about his philosophy in livestreaming in writing and on camera. He's stood by it, and absolutely hasn't revised it, even if he's behaved himself at an FTP march.

F*** the police. by MasCapitalin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 1 point2 points ago

OakFoSho started using this a couple months ago, but it's important to note that he has publicly said multiple times that he would film illegal acts and that if people are throwing bottles, he will "stick a camera in their face." He's no friend to anarchists, or radicals in general, until he revises that position.

What are you even TALKING ABOUT? I've probably posted 5 reddit comments in as many days. You are trippin. Pls link me to this imaginary trolling you're accusing me of. I don't think I've even seen the repost on r/occupywallstreet.

Also, LouisLingg is an Oakland Commune comrade so I'll have their back when someone is trolling every comment on a link, including and especially theirs.

Oakland Video: Protesters begging to be allowed to disperse. Cops beat old woman and arrest the only black guy. [x-post Occupywallst] by anonnomin Anarchism

[–]unrealriot 0 points1 point ago

The black dude is a medic, and they planted drugs on him, are holding him at $400K bail, and have released his mugshot to the press as a "violent occupy protester." THIS SHIT IS SO FUCKED.

I know and love the folks begging to be let out and it hurts me to see them scared in this video, though it hurt worse to see them across the hall from me in jail.

[–]unrealriot 26 points27 points ago

Dude, Hedges has no idea what the fuck is going on in Oakland, and this article makes it pretty clear. His "analysis, if you can call it that, is based on half truths and a really uninformed idea of what a black bloc is.
