I think we are way past the point of tuning and optimizing computers. Now it's time to buy something that delivers more then just specs and performance. You will see that even you 5-6 year old laptop/computers are sufficient to do everyday tasks (browse the web etc.) So why do you need a new computer? It's about everything else that the mac provides.

It gives a dialog asking you what filesystem to format to. I am guessing once you choose it will ask you. But seriously, they don't install ssh by default, but have a format option right there?

Safari is a bit buggy, but it generally is more compatible with a mac in terms of UI. I don't want to learn to do things differently across apps. Also chrome might be faster, but certain websites run "cooler" in safari. Meaning they use less cpu and thus don't cause my fans to blare out. Also safari renders animations and sometimes fonts much smoother.

For games GC is pretty much unacceptable. 60fps means that you have < .0166... seconds to gc + execute game logic.

Just use objective c. You can pick and choose what you want gced and the iOS proves that it works fine without GC.

I think the narrator needs to match the style of your text. You can post your book on acx.com and see what kind of narrators audition for your book.

I believe you can produce audiobooks per Amazon book. So if your first novella is on amazon.com as a single book, you can submit that by itself.

Have you ever considered turning your Book into an Audiobook? I work for audible.com specifically the acx.com site. Check out the acx.com, it's for self-publishing authors like yourself who can use it to find narrators and will get your book into all of the audiobook stores: Audible.com and iTunes.

I don't see this when I visit family in Canada. Cars in Canada are more expensive then here due to taxes. They want to buy nice cars just as much as us Americans.

It's weird. Having known people in the US and canada what you say isn't true. I don't want to argue about this with you at all. Just giving you a heads up the reality might not be what your "sources" make it out to be.
