I created my first Arch package today called brocket. It's an application launch wrapper that checks if the app is already open and raises that window instead of starting a new instance. Thoughts? by teratomatain archlinux

Ok, I updated so that the default search is by window class, and a new option to use the old search method. Thanks for this.

It should work with anything that wmctrl works with - easiest way to test would be to install wmctrl and issue 'wmctrl -l' and then 'wmctrl -R $windowTitle', where $windowTitle is anything that came up from wmctrl -l.

According to wmctrl it works with 'EWMH/NetWM compatible X Window Managers', and specifically 'Enlightenment, Icewm, Kwin, Sawfish, and Xfce.' It should work with awesome, fluxbox, compiz, and metacity (and xmonad if you turn on EWHM). I can't think of any other WMs, but I'm sure there are some that it won't work with.

All that being said, I've only tried it with Kwin/KDE4, and if you can confirm it working for other WMs that would be awesome.

It's not specific to Arch Linux at all other than it's my first AUR package and I was excited to share. I felt /r/Linux was inappropriate because all the submissions seem to be big news items.

I was actually wondering if there's a 'user made packages' subreddit for Linux in general, and I'm considering crossposting to /r/KDE.

How to Get URL Bar and Tab Bar in Same Row Similar to IE9 in Chrome? by sprremixin chrome

I know that, but I want it to display on the same line as the URL bar.

As others have said, if you use the CD they try to minimize the apps to fit in everything else. Otherwise they both have a bajillion million things in the repositories, just install everything you want from there.

I also wish it was possible to edit the tabs and URL bars. But only because I want the bookmarks bar to be with the extensions icons.

I'm really curious as to why you need an antivirus to log into the school internet? As in how do they even check for that??? Moreso, you don't need antivirus for OSX. The fundamental design of the system makes it hypothetically impossible to get a virus, however you can still install trojans if you want to.

This. In all seriousness. Antivirus is a worse problem than actual viruses. If you insist on using windows, just get Microsoft Security Essentials - free, top quality, and unintrusive.

There's a group in town called the vegan zombies... they're not vegan people who are zombies, they're zombies that drink beer instead of brains -_-

This, understanding the 5 reasons why the reactions happens means you won't have to memorize 50 different reactions. If you can't explain the subtle differences between two processes, don't say 'that's ok, I'll memorize the reaction', sit down and figure out what's going on.

Where do you get your outfits? I've only seen either sewing them yourself, or importing from Japan and spending at least $200.

Do something about the eyebrows... I think you're having a huge misunderstanding of what genderfucking is...

Don't worry, they wrote for Big Bang Theory too. Which is just like Community if you then made it terribly horribly terrible.

Yeah, I really really like Kate, and every time I try out KDevelop the learning curve just seems monstrous. All I want to do is open up a script and have some syntax highlighting and it wants me to make a project and this and that and yeah. It'll come with time I guess.

Looks fine for me, are you using chakra-gtk-config? Now if only there was a way to get wine looking like native KDE apps...

Wait, the article says Kate has "Code autocompletion with argument hints" - I've never seen argument hints in Kate (except maybe in KDevelop?) How do I turn this on? I've only written Python and Bash, so maybe the argument hinting is for other languages?
