I've always wondered about the difference between German Jewish and Christian surnames. At least in the US, a lot of Jewish families seem to have German names, so do "Jewish-sounding" names exist in Germany? I assume they must, what with the history of discrimination (and then some) against Jews in that country.

Sorry to interrupt the 'jerk. Back on topic: What nobody in the media or the general public seems to acknowledge is that every other race shits on black people in America, and we still call it racism. Racism isn't just white people treating black people like garbage; that just happens to be its most common manifestation in this, a majority white country. So Zimmerman doesn't have to be all white, half-white, or any-part-white to commit a hate crime brought about by institutionalized racism. P.S., Hispanics and blacks have their own history of racist violence against each other, though I don't believe that's a factor in this case.
