If you're going to bring up an "interesting topic" at a party you have to consider the state of the audience. It must relate to the topic at hand, and have an interesting hook. What I really want is a nifty 35.

50mm is too close on a 1.6 crop. It's truly a nice lens but the times I most want to use it are usually in close quarters, and I can't fit 3 people in the FOV without backing right out of the kitchen.

But it is a great lens.
