Loefah on the enduring appeal of vinyl, record shopping in London and becoming a grumpy old man. by fatbatmanin realdubstep

[–]stonerpet 0 points1 point ago

Totally agree. Also, if you're not in the scene, where everything is happening, then the only real way to get access to it nowadays is digitally. I would not have heard of dubstep had I not found out about it online because I never grew up with it, and no one around me had heard about it. I say long live digital!

Why do people think that fighting with your S.O. is necessary in a relationship? by stonerpetin AskReddit

I strive to be with someone like this. As long as problems aren't being sidestepped/ avoided of course!

Yea I don't fully understand the need for yelling. I guess this is because I've never thought that yelling was a good solution to a problem/conflict.

I've definitely just sat there being yelled at without having the urge to yell back. I just find myself saying "calm down and lets talk about it."

You're right in saying that everyone operates in a different way, I just haven't found myself in a relationship where yelling/fighting hasn't been present.

Thanks for your response. It makes a lot of sense. After reading most of these responses its clear that I just deal with conflict in a different way!

Forks , [Composition] [Subject] [Clarity] by DeusVoxin photocritique

[–]stonerpet 0 points1 point ago

People are pretty harsh on this subreddit with their downvotes I think. Anyway, I don't exactly see what you're going for in this picture. If you're trying to highlight the gap in the trees then I can say it's not really working as it isn't a continuous/clear line.

It also feels as if the foreground is too dark and doesn't blend well with the lightness of the sky/snow.

I'd suggest aiming to have a clearer subject in the picture. It's just a little busy. I like that you're shooting in B&W though!

Cambie Bridge HDR in Vancouver [Impact] [Technical] [Creativity] [Style] [Composition] [Color Balance] [Center of Interest] [Lighting] [Subject Matter] [Technique] by jgopin photocritique

[–]stonerpet 0 points1 point ago

I'm not sure the HDR was absolutely necessary for this shot. A couple things I'd suggest are:

1) That object in the front obstructs the line the bridge creates. It also takes away from the water reflection. 2) I would have shot a longer exposure with a smaller aperture ~ f/10. It'll give you that sweet star effect from the lights.

Yea I'll also chime in and say I really enjoy reading Murakami's books. Kafka was excellent, Norweigan Wood was very enjoyable and I'm now getting through Dance, Dance, Dance.

I love his blend of fantasy and reality. I haven't read IQ84, but I'm definitely going to keep reading his books. Truly fantastic stuff.
