Bypassing the server browser to connect to a game? by steamingbadgerin tf2

I'm only refreshing my favorites (7 or so servers), so far this is working great, thanks!

Yep, I've been doing that "I can connect through the console (using "connect IP")" but I keep getting kicked because the servers are usually full. Trying to access the autojoin option without going through the server browser.

Cool, I'll try that out in the morning and let you know how it goes.

Hairdresser recommendations? by steamingbadgerin brighton

[–]steamingbadger[S] 1 point2 points ago

I'm a little wary of places that seem to advertise mainly short and straight cuts, I've always had it super long so the cut will be a shock regardless :P

Hmm... I do have a month left on my student card. I'll check 'em out.

Never been styled, need thoughts from an outside perspective! by steamingbadgerin FancyFollicles

Thanks for the advice! I was playing around with it last night and I think I'll keep more length than I was planning. Got to be careful around here though, hairdressers are notorious for going overboard! They're used to doing lots of pixie and undercuts.

My everyday 'get outta my face' style is to just pull the hair halfway through when putting it in a ponytail. Nothing too uptight, the knot is near my neck. I find that a bit of rough and tumble loosens the knot and by the end you have a 'thoroughly ravaged' look. Bonus!

I'd suggest you check out resident records, they have a brilliant gig list and have little descriptions of the new albums they sell in-store. There's also rounder records and a whole bunch of nooks and crannies in the lanes that are well worth visiting.

Just a heads up, West street is pretty skanky- especially on weekends. Its where the cheesiest and stickiest bars/clubs are and gets bombarded with hen and stag nights at weekends. Here are a few places to google instead: Komedia, The Blind Tiger Club, The Caroline of Brunswick (pub), White Night (it's an all night arts event when the clocks go back, nothing to do with KKK I promise :P ) and probably a bunch of the venues on the resident records ticket list. Have fun!

Private or university housing? by ImpairedOwlin brighton

3rd year student here (dissertation is due tomorrow so obviously I'm on reddit), I lived in East Slope on campus in my first year, definitely the 'Animal House' of the lot. It had the cheapest rent (around £75ppw) with all costs included and was hellsa fun, unfortunately the neighbors would play dubstep between 1am and 4am most mornings. The pricier the accommodation the better the quality of life- prices ramp up pretty quickly though.

Those first years will drive you mental. The only quiet you'll get is when they all head home to London over the weekends- and then its a ghost town. Campus is great for a young person who's never lived away from home and I have very fond memories of my first year- but there's no chance in hell I'm living there again! As a couple I'd suggest getting a place in town, ideally on the 25 bus route (every 5-10 minutes) or 23 (every half hour during the day)- currently you can get a return ticket for £2.50 and they do bus passes too.

Reddit, what is your favourite book series? by PatrickRicein AskReddit

I'm inclined to agree! I have to be careful when I read, I'm miserable all day if I stop at the end of a sad chapter :( I really want a pet wolf now too, pretty sure if they drank pepsi all the time my fridge would be full of it! Easily influenced.

I like to break up my reading but I'll consider it ;)

There's too many negative things on reddit. So, reddit, tell me three things that have made your day good/awesome? by eaxin AskReddit

1) The b/f made lemonade.
2) He's not fond of it so I get the rest.
3) There's lots left!
It's been a good day but I'm sure the above pleasures are universal.

The Farseer Trilogy needs some lovin'. Just getting into the meaty bit of the final book, Assassin's Quest. It's my first venture back into fantasy since I was a kid, really glad I did! Planning on reading the Ender series next.

Tell me what you think of my comic style before I start 2 long projects (sometimes NSFW for nudity) by cherryhammerin ArtCrit

I'll try and avoid repeating what's already been said but will continue from Doogl's point. Perhaps simply a variety in age would be a good exercise, I saw few characters that seemed to be over the age of 27 and the ones that were seem to be quite spritely. Additionally, there seem to be very few male characters to critique upon but generally speaking they still appear quite feminine. Usually a man in drag is quite easy to spot but I think if you shaved and put a dress on some of yours it wouldn't be easy to tell the difference (I think it's the chin/cheekbones and eyes). On the whole though I think you have good lines and structure etc and all the above is only relevant to your projects if you plan to work with old men :P Hope to see a followup with more project details, my interest is peaked!

Funnily enough the first image is a picture of me .... Which I suppose isn't that surprising. As I browse on my mobile, about half on the first page are either me or taken by me. I feel like I'm stalking myself.
