I left Denver (Lakewood) for California due to the cold and lack of jobs. by drunkendonutsin Denver

She says her job is to get in the bedroom and spread her legs.

I do not lie. Her words. But she did hit me when I mentioned her thighs.

Yup. Hence the disclosure.

Nah. Her thighs work just fine.

(I'm required to disclose that I'm an utter pig.)

A lot of the front range is gorgeous. And my lady loves it here. So I'm stuck.

Because I have a job and I've never been able to get one where it stays warm. Denver is the best compromise I've found.

What do you say to theists when all they keep saying is, "Well who made this and who made that?" by lilkunikloin atheism

[–]spaceghoti 1 point2 points ago

You have two options. You can bone up on modern astrophysics or you can say "'I don't know' is a better answer than 'god did it.'"

Welcome! Did you notice our FAQ?

Dear religious, anti-homosexual people, let's assume for a minute that homosexuality IS a sin and that gays actually WILL burn in Hell for all eternity. by DrWatson21in atheism

[–]spaceghoti 1 point2 points ago

Yes, but they believe that homosexuality is a choice, and the choice they made is that the gays turned away from their fantasy god. So all they have to do is turn to Jesus for salvation and their homosexuality will be cured. No amount of evidence will convince them otherwise.

Nothing is going to change their minds. Facts won't faze them. All we can do is speak up in defense of homosexuals, women and everyone else oppressed by religious morality and let the bigots stand on the wrong side of history like they always do.

So, basically, we're in agreement here.

Sure, we can learn from lots of things. I simply disagree that morals come from religion. Religion attempts to codify morals, but no one agrees with the codification 100% no matter what they claim. There are always aspects they don't follow.

Religion may have helped reinforce certain morals at a young age, but it didn't create those morals and it isn't the reason you kept any of them. People just like to give credit to religion for morality.

Atheists Inyerpretation by Duuliciousin atheism

[–]spaceghoti 1 point2 points ago

You didn't get those morals from the Bible. Women and children are property according to the Bible, and homosexuality is abomination in both the Old Testament and the New. As for the death penalty, the Old Testament endorses "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" but the New Testament says "if a man strikes you, turn the other cheek."

No one gets their morality from their religion. They pick and choose their morality according to what they learn from life, many times in spite of what their religion actually says.

Well, I can say it'll give you an interesting snapshot of a narrow view of life from a specific cultural perspective rooted in the Bronze Age. I'm not that concerned, though. If you really study the Bible as a work of literature and not try to justify it as some sort of holy script, then you'll probably learn a lot about how people use confirmation bias to prop up their belief systems.

Technically the Catholic doctrine doesn't allow for pedophilia either, but that didn't stop the Vatican from covering up their crimes.

This is a case of bad people being bad that you were railing against. Being religious didn't stop bad people from being bad, it just helped them feel better about themselves.
