Guide: How to Root, install a new Bootloader, Recovery, Rom, and Kernal on your Kindle Fire. i.e. how to make it Awesome! by driscoll42in kindlefire

Step 6 looks much better!

In the extras, it was Google USB Driver that was crucial, just FYI.

Step 3... I don't know what got me about that. I followed both your instructions and the instructions to which I linked earlier. It required installing drivers. Yours didn't. I'm not saying what you wrote doesn't work. I just kind of played it safe. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Other than that, thanks again! My Kindle Fire is super badass now!

You might need to right click on the file or folder (I think it's the file) and look at the permissions. Allow the user "full control".

OK, I uninstalled, reinstalled and ran everything again as an administrator. That helped, although not everything installed the first time around, so I didn't have the .android folder. Then when I did, I didn't have the adb_usb.ini file, which is when I realized that I didn't download the extras. I was a little confused by the wording in Step 3, so I cross-referenced the information with the instructions on the site linked to in the sidebar: How to install adb USB drivers on the Kindle Fire

From there, Step 4 and 5 were pretty easy. I followed the instructions and I was struck by how easy it was.

In Step 6, the last two lines could use a bit of rephrasing. It might be useful to break it up into concrete steps and reference the actual buttons/options on the screen for each one so that someone completely unfamiliar can follow it without making assumptions.

Overall, I think you did a great job compiling all the information and presenting it in a useful way. I've never messed around with Android before so I'm a complete stranger regarding this. That counts for something.

Thanks again!

Are Books Becoming Too Long to Read? - The Daily Beast by smekasin books

[–]smekas[S] 1 point2 points ago

More like 1300+, but what the article asks (as I see it) is more than what the title would imply: Are books these days long just for the sake of being long, rather than because such length is necessary to cover the subject? That, too me, is the true question here. I don't know.

Actually, that didn't work. I rebooted and selected Android 4.0 and 4.0.3 and the update for Android SDK tools (rev 19) and got the same error message. My Android SDK Tools (rev 18) and Android SDK Platform-tools appear to be installed correctly. Thoughts?

Cool. Thanks. I don't know what Eclipse is so I assume I don't have it open. I did try downloading the stuff last night and it just kind of stalled midway. When I tried again this morning, I got these errors. I'll try rebooting.

What's the worst book you've read this year? by cookupastormin books

I guess one could read it for the language and the mood but considering what a short book it is, I struggled to get through. Connecting to the characters was nearly impossible.

Which would have been perfectly fine if she just posted the original message without replying to the guy and titled it as you so well put it: "some people all of a sudden try to come back into your life when you start getting some success and notoriety"

Instead she opted for the "you never called. i remembered. you didn't. fuck off."

That's not what I'm trying to say. No one likes being used.

What I'm trying to say is that any payback she gets from this is hardly worth exposing herself to the world through what is apparently a painful or embarrassing memory. Lashing out publicly seems unwise and unsatisfactory in the long run. That's all.

How to improve confidence in preparation for second fight after losing the first? by smekasin MuayThai

[–]smekas[S] 0 points1 point ago

We've done this on one or two occasions in training. Actually kind of transitioned it into a push at the end. I like it, but the key for me is remembering the right thing to do at the right time. I believe that I have plenty of the right tools. I need to be composed, aggressive and use the right tool at the right time.

By no stretch of the imagination do I support Mitt Romney, but is this reminiscent of Swift Boat Veterans to anyone?

First of all, I wish things like this didn't happen at all, but whether they did or didn't, it should be very important that facts are true and verified before jumping down anyone's throat.

How to improve confidence in preparation for second fight after losing the first? by smekasin MuayThai

[–]smekas[S] 1 point2 points ago

Haha! He turned out to be a nice guy. I spoke to him afterwards. He was extremely thankful for winning after having two losses on his record. I told him not to thank me, because I didn't let him win. He complained about his right(?) side hurting from something I hit him with and getting worse. That kind of made me feel better.

That said, fuck his style. For real.

I don't know how much swaying I can adopt, but I do intend on making sure that I'm working in my striking range and not his. I know he'll try to close the distance.

I hate to hear that I flailed around, but I did see it, particularly when he'd get a long combination off. Yeah, mirroring is a good way to put it. At least I can partially blame it on him.

There is a lot of things I could have easily done in retrospect, but I likened my first fight to being for the first time on a new rollercoaster. You see nothing. The ride is over very quickly. Only as you go on it again and again, do you gain the ability to look around and see things you haven't been able to focus on before.

The little experience that I got was priceless, IMO. I wish it had been 6 minutes, instead of only 2, but it was very useful nonetheless.

Yeah, I take particular pride in my kicks. I wish I had landed a few more. I think it definitely would have dissuaded him from coming in close.

Again, thanks for the comments, encouragement and constructive criticism. The input is that much more effective, knowing that you're commenting after seeing my fight.

Yeah, I found out he's a southpaw about a week or two before the fight. I tried my best to train for it, but ultimately it made little difference. The more important factor was the novelty of the entire thing to me. Once he started swinging, my senses were overloaded and I just tried to clinch, land some knees and punches and start back up again.

Two things I should have done would be teeps to keep him at bay and I should have come into him rather than back away when he attacked. It was difficult to think of these things in the pandemonium that was my first real fight round in my life ever. I couldn't even hear my trainer. I remember thinking to myself "He's setting the pace for this round, but I'll come up with a strategy for round 2" but it never came to be.

Thanks for the style and technique points.

This was hilarious. Probably one of the biggest laughs they've gotten out of me in a while. Not sure if it was the element of surprise or maybe immediate thoughts how the jokes would be perceived by the MMA community, but I thought it was literally "laugh out loud" funny.
