Weird, very weird. I've wondered about polyrhythmic patterns, but there's only so much time in the day.

On another note, we (Indianapolis club) tried scattered sunshine for the first time recently and eventually made in through about one round...

High:

  • Ran 5-man shamrock for several seconds
  • Michael Karas juggling shiny pipes
  • Had never had a cafe au lait before. A++++ WOULD DRINK AGAIN
  • Making Sara stand on a mat for takeouts (Thanks for the reminder)

Low:

  • Left brush & blow dryer at home. Wet, tangled hair gave me fits all night Friday.
  • Realizing my pass accuracy is dropping from lack of practice.
  • Completely failed at Whynot feed, couldn't form it off the top of my head.

Goal:

  • Pass with new people. Check
  • Learn some new passing patterns: Double check: 4 and 5 leaf clover or whatever they're called.
  • Troll Michael all weekend: Triple check.

Crush:

  • Peter Kaseman for fixing our terrible dropback line
  • Chris LaReau - Shoulder throws in 8 singles

Bane:

  • Either passing patterns have too many names, or I know the wrong ones (PPS Feed, mild madness, etc.), because no one knew what the devil I was talking about. =

Suprise:

I think that was me and Sara (both from Indianapolis). I dragged a folded mat over so she could do takeouts; I have a good foot on her which was making almost everything more difficult.

The local juggling club here (Indianapolis) has actually set up a page to help newbies with the club buying decision: "The Big Question". Hope that helps!

[juggling/passing] Programming Patterns by Callitrichidaein juggling

Could someone translate these to 4 handed?

Local siteswap nut here (e.g. I wrote my own passing pattern animator in order to mess with crazy stuff). To get four hand, interleave the patterns and double the numbers...

Four handed siteswap of the first one is 7777266666. 77772, of course, is just a base-state 6 object siteswap. It's not too hard to understand the programming in terms of siteswap. J1 makes it 77772666666 for one round, causing J2 to pass the first 7. J2 programs by making it 777726666, causing J2 to throw the first 7.

Second one is 7799288226. Ouch! And similar with the transitions. The original is, again, a base state siteswap padded with an extra 6 so that it can be programmed by both jugglers.

Personally, the only programming pattern I've done is Jonix, which is like your first pattern without the two selves at the end. J1 is 3.5 3.5 1, J2 is 3.5 3.5 3, and programming is the same.

The odd thing about this pattern is that if you program constantly you either get Mild Madness (Martin's PPS, PPSPPZS, or whatever you call it) or Martin's Ultimate (I think). I learned both of these patterns before Jonix, and anytime I try it with Wesley we end up in one of those, or in a hopelessly confused sort of six-club random. It's amazing what you can learn to throw back after you learn the zip reaction from martin's PPS or martin's 1-count.

What type of clubs should I get? by Rjbcc58in juggling

No, I would probably recommend 95s over 85s for anything but numbers. Sadly, I own seventeen 85s - long story - so the club passes those for large patterns.

Speaking from experience and other people's advice, releasing 3 renegades (especiallly 95s, and 85s with borked handles) is harder than with slimmer clubs like PX3s or Delphins, but don't let that stop you if you like them. I still can't really release three from my off-hand.

I recommend Renegade 95s, but here's a rundown.

I come from an odd juggling club (the Indianapolis club). As a club, we mostly pass (and mostly juggle) fairly heavy clubs (240-255 mg) with low spin. So here's info on what we juggle.

Renegade 85mm $25/$30 About 240 mg undecorated, decorated a bit more. These are medium or lowish spin. I dress my undecorated 85s up with tape to modify the spin and make them beautiful.

These are great for low numbers, passing, takeouts, and that sort of thing; less ideal for numbers on weight and maybe spin control. These are what I have. Easy to pass and learn on.

Renegade 95mm $25/$30 About 253 mg decorated, I believe. Quite heavy, very low spin.

Great for passing and juggling low spin stuff, e.g. 7/8 singles, 8/9 doubles, showers, et cetera. The current preference of Alan Thompson, erstwhile club member (great passer, Youtube it.)

Renegades (the composite ones) are less durable than a lot of other clubs. The dowels break and have to be replaced at length, the knobs come off and have to be glued, the tips come off and have to taped, the decorations rip and fall off and oh the humanity, but Renegade has a great replacement policy and service from what I've heard. (Edited.)

You can also customize the length and weight on Renegades to preference.

Dube Airflite About $20. Heavy, low-spin one-piece molded club. 240mg or so. These are supposedly very durable. Michael has definitely beaten the crap out of his and it seems like they're holding up well.

They're good for low spin passing stuff. Takeouts are harder, and they're definitely rougher on your hands and arms than most clubs.

Jugglebugs If Jugglebugs are the answer, you're asking the wrong question.

Delphins Light, thin and short. Good for numbers weight wise, but spin control is a bit harder. I haven't juggled them very much.

Need some recommendations on affordable bean-bags by nickru09in juggling

[–]quamaretto 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If you can live with russians (hollow balls with fine fill), those are a lot cheaper and you can make them for next to nothing. You need a big bag of dry sand or salt; some plastic ball-pit balls; and either a hole-poking implement and a glue gun or a sharp blade and some electrical tape. A small digital scale really helps too ($10-15).

Russians are a bit different and I prefer beanbags, but it's a close thing.

Making your own beanbags runs into a lot of time and money to get started with a machine, fabric, fill, etc., but you can get down to around $1-2 and half an hour per bag with a sewing machine.
