If the cops were not there the staff would have shot him up full of tranquilizers. Done.

America's Darwin Problem by NGC300in evolution

[–]paulydavis 0 points1 point ago

I had a student who I was working with in an after school program tell me in great detail why the earth was really 10,000 years old and how evolution could not be true and on and on and on. I was stunned. This was a bright kid. But I have heard it all before. It is religion that is at the core of this Darwin problem. This kid was listing to this nut: http://www.answersingenesis.org/outreach/speakers/ken-ham/bio/ Also, I blame the school for not teaching better critical (skeptical) thinking skills. That should be the starting point. Then facts. I did not engage the student because it would have been counterproductive in what I was there to do.

On testers and testing by sriram_2001in programming

The most successful software is the shit running in the planes above your head. Not windows NT. I an I can tell you it is tested to death. Also, good testers are the ones recruited to be developers. At least in the Aerospace world.

I can follow what he did. I sure the hell would not have come up with it. It is like being able to really appreciate great music at a fundamental level compared to being able to create great music. This person creates great music.

Just wanted to know if this is common for others by simeon94in BipolarReddit

[–]paulydavis 4 points5 points ago

In a way it is a good thing. Best thing is to get outside confirmation of your behavior. Behavior over time that show a pattern is important because I can just be happy and not hypo manic. My wife confirms when hypo mania is occurring. It is hard when you feel the good parts of that to accept that it is happening let alone accept that sometime soon you are about to have bad things like irritability and maybe paranoia or even true mania happen. If your symptoms last more than a few days that is key to seeing the behavior is chronic not just situational or normal behavior that results from maybe just having low stress. So it is time that is a really the important component and appropriate affect to situations in your life. Why is this all so important? Medication adjustment might be needed. If you are having episodes then you might need adjustment.
