And you know what? From the sickeningly cutesy emails with subject lines like "SHOUTY CAPITALS" to the entire chick-lit writing style, I've found an alternate title for this piece of schlock (it's also a synopsis of it): Bridget Jones' Dungeon.

I had a boss who was a total trainwreck of a bitch. Picture Rosie O'Donnell with really bad PMS every day. She swore like a sailor and was gross and disgusting. She would lean over my desk, stick her fat face in mine and yell at me calling me a stupid cunt. In front of everyone. And I was very proficient in my job.

Anyway, she came back early from maternity leave (in Canada, it's a year of paid unemployment insurance) and bragged loudly that she was getting double pay: once from the company, and once from unemployment insurance, who didn't know she'd gone back to work.

I sent an anonymous email to Revenue Canada (our IRS) with her name, address, phone, licence plate, title, company, and dates of everything including her bragging. I got her fat ass audited into the next century. Still happy about it. It's called karma, bitch.

I just finished it (in two days) and I have to agree. What struck me about 50 Shades is that its writing style is exactly -- exactly-- like the Confessions of a Shopoholic series by Sophie Kinsella. I admit, I read the whole Shopoholic series because they're light, mindless, silly books to read in the tub because you don't much care if you drop them in the water. It's exactly the same first-person, present-tense, cutesy wootsy "aren't I adorable and aren't I being naughty" tone. In fact I daresay James deliberately used that tone and style for this series, knowing how popular they were. (She was correct -- hers is also being made into a movie.)

There were only 3 short scenes in 50 Shades, and they were (to me) laughably vanilla. Add to that the fact that Anastasia thinks of Grey as "poor, fucked-up, kinky Christian" and makes it her mission to "cure" him, and the fact that we're told he's a "poor, fucked-up" man because of deep emotional and physical abuse as a toddler. It's insulting.

I think that's good advice. Submitter said, "I just have this huge barrier in my head when it comes to sex and I don't know how to tear it down.." Think of a high-class call girl as a sex therapist. Explain your issues to her. I think your first hurdle is to have enjoyable sex with a woman. Then tackle the self-confidence.

28 is OK... but in my experience, the really good-looking guys (who know they're good-looking) are terrible in bed. The guys who don't think they're attractive are great, because they try so hard. Well, young guys often don't know what they're doing in the sack, but they're the best-looking... I never date older than ten years younger than me. Fortyish... but some of the best lovers I've had have been really young, and the worst have been older and many-times-married. There's no hard and fast rule.
