Anybody have experience with the insomnia after smoking daily for a time span around a year and 10 months? by [deleted]in leaves

[–]moussif 0 points1 point ago

You are not alone. I smoked for just a few months on a regular basis and when I quit I couldn't sleep for 2 weeks or so, things got better then at the 30 day mark my sleep was fucked up one more time. Now I am at day 45 and it's stabilising.

Day 35: Update and need advice on some things I am experiencing by moussifin leaves

[–]moussif[S] 1 point2 points ago

wow thanks that's some really encouraging thoughts and very true. I will save this for when I feel negative again.

Hence, when I quit, it felt like my positive moods or relaxed state was cheapened by not having weed anymore. I had lowered the ceiling on my own potential for well-being. Does that feel true to you?

That's absolutely true, weed is something special and I won't lie, I really miss it but I know deep down that I can't go through this one more time, it's just not worth it at the end of the day. I might indulge once a month when everything settles as I know now that it isn't for me and can control myself, I had an alcohol problem a few years ago and managed that very well, but I won't do more. The only reason I smoked a lot is because I actually wanted to smoke a lot and never thought of the consequences, I wasn't even aware that withdrawal symptoms existed for weed. I might be saying this now because I really miss it but when everything settles I hope I won't even think about it.

When I started smoking it wasn't to cover something else, some friends introduced me to weed, and I started enjoying it and smoking more and more.

I think I would know if I was depressed, thing is I asked myself why am I feeling like this over the past few weeks and couldn't pin point anything or almost. I have everything and some more although these past 2 years were sort of tough as the real world hit me (I am a student), money issues arose but I still was very happy before quitting weed, and always kept in mind that those issues are temporary until I graduate. Obviously we all have our ups and downs at times but it goes away quickly, I also have my own issues with the family amongst other things but I always stayed strong and just sort of manned up.

I thought about seeing someone but I am more of a self-therapy sort of guy. I tried to go to a MA meeting but ended up at the wrong end of the church, I only found out at the end that I was at AA.

Day 3 is the centre of the storm, try to hang in there and resist, it only gets better after 10 days or so. Now it's up to you whether you're strong enough.

I feel like I'm turning into an alcoholic.. by lubstubsin leaves

[–]moussif 1 point2 points ago

How long haven't you smoked for?

I had more alcohol than usual the first 2 weeks to help with the sleep and anxiety. Don't overdo it, when everything is starting to go back to normal, cut down.

Day 3 for me. Anyone deal with increased drinking while quitting? by Somebuddhain leaves

[–]moussif 1 point2 points ago

When i quit i was very anxious for the first week so i used alcohol to forget and sort of temporarly halt the withdrawal symptoms. Now i am back to normal and back to drinking only sometimes like everyone else.

It's all in the head. Now you're in day 3 things will get better in a week or so and then cut back on alcohol. The sooner you get used to sleeping sober the better. You cant just keep doing it for life and you need to tackle it.

[–]moussif 1 point2 points ago

Excuse the poor writing on my phone.

It is not going to be easy and it's better to awknowledge it and expect it than pretend it's easy. But use this to your advantage, and by that i mean realise what you're going through and promise to yourself you will not do it again.

On my first 2 weeks i felt like shit and it was even worse because i didn know withdrawal symptoms existed. Hopefully you wont get all the withdrawal symptoms. Try exercising or something, the more positive things you do the easier it will be. Get rid of all the weed accesories, paper, etc. Put it behind you mentally anr challenge youself.

It will get better. Just hang in there.
