What's up with Jeans and Sandals? Those toes are begging to get stepped on or stabbed by kids.

This might be an unreasonable fear. After DJing several thousand weddings, this is the only one where someone died at the reception.

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston - I hated the song even more after this wedding.

It is not any sort of an ureasonable assumption - kids dedicate songs to each other all the time.

Fine. you want a part-time thing, maybe a college gig or two? drink away.

You want to take it seriously and get recommendations and future bookings, keep professional. I've heard so many stories about DJs and photographers at weddings (and even in bars) drinking themselves stupid and losing business.

Consider the fact that the first thing alcohol does is impair your judgment and you'll realize that drinking will NOT improve your ability to select music or mix well.

Any advice from wedding djs? by Felipe_Oin DJs

[–]mistermajik2000 1 point2 points ago

Have you BEEN to a wedding? your best bet may be to find a DJ who will let you shadow them or work for an established company to learn the ropes. There's a lot involved, but nothing super complicated. Too much to explain here.

To answer your questions, though - yes. take requests. your music library should be extensive - popular stuff across genres from the 1940s-present.

On the mike you will introduce the bridal party, speeches, and events as they occur throughout the night - and anything they ask you to say.
