TIL grapefruit didn't exist until 1750 and is a hybrid of the pummelo and orange. by imissyourmuskin todayilearned

Actually, almost all human food (including fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and even animals) are man made and only vaguely resemble their natural ancestor. It was done through thousands of years of selective breeding - initially unintentional, and then accelerated and intentional.

If you were to travel back in time 100,000 years, you wouldn't find a single recognizable thing to eat.

The exception is food from the Ocean.

It's actually an infinity increase from the days where there's no one.

As a old brother who's about to get married, and have his younger brother make a toast, is there anything I can tell him now so that he won't fail?

Well, in fairness, there were always some cops on Wall Street (maybe ~10?). The street was shut down to vehicles and car bomb obstacles were erected after 9/11.

Which is why they have a section of the steps of the Federal building on Wall St which is fenced off specifically to facilitate protesters protesting.

I walk past after work around 6pm, and there are usually a few more people. ...but still on the order of ~5 people.

I can verify that. There were no occupiers on May 1st. At least not when Wall Streeters, such as my self, are walking to work in the morning (8-9am).

I would want a face-to-face apology to my son and an appropriate number of detentions. These days, the kid might literally end up in jail - fucking ridiculous.

Also, are we all supposed to apologize for the dumb shit we did in high school?

Like all of us in high school, I'm sure you did more than a few things you wouldn't be proud of today. ...assuming any of this is even true.

Also, get away from all the crazed refugees. Probably as dangerous as the fallout.

Exactly. It's more likely you will looking away from the flash at detonation, and then turn (or round a corner) to see the cloud.

This only helps for nuclear plant radiation, not nuclear weapons. The Iodine pills saturate your Thyroid with iodine, preventing further radioactive iodine from being absorbed by your thyroid. However nuclear weapons do not emit radioactive iodine, so it won't help at all.

Is Political Opinions of America a scam? by mariod505in AskReddit

[–]mariod505[S] 0 points1 point ago

I don't get it... Don't they need to be a "blessed" political survey organization? And if they are, how can they be blessed if they're scamming people?

Otherwise, any scammer can ask one political question to circumvent the DoNotCall registry?

I agree, but in the absence of other responses, I don't see the harm in reporting factual events.

True, but that does not mean that anecdotal evidence should go completely unreported.

None of the search results have the question properly answered. There's nothing wrong with re-asking a question that wasn't well answered in the past.

[–]mariod505 6 points7 points ago

For clarification - is relevant anecdotal evidence permissible? For example, if I were to say that my girlfriend does sneeze in her sleep. Or that everyone on my wife side of the family sneezes in their sleep, etc...
