Just keeping talking through it. I do believe that if your fiance and you approach his parents and sit, talk, interact, mingle it WILL work out.

What I would do is take it in small steps, first a "hi" (since I dont think you have spoken to his parents yet) and then move on from there.

Just out of curiosity can you tell me which part of India he is from...I'm guessing you guys met in college /grad school?...

why? Because of the skin tone?? I live in India and I can tell there a lot of people with that skin tone all over the country (even in the south where i think the skin tone is on average darker)...

Besides, look at the dress on the sofa at the left of the picture....that is (very very likely) a gagra choli or some other North Indian/Gujurati traditional dress....And btw Gujarati usually have that skin tone....and I should know since there a lot of Gujarati in my area (not to mention the fact that a close family friend is Gujarati)...

SHORT ANSWER: The music industry (in total) is h-u-g-e in India. This is simply a result of the fact that there are several musical styles across the nation and the nation is comprised of many communities and many languages. Also, religious/spiritual music is huge here.

If you are referring to westernized pop music, then obviously it isnt going to be as big as the western pop industry...

We also have small but strong rock, metal and (grassroots not gangsta) rap oases across the nation.

Its a step....which will bring about some progress...not the ultimate solution.....the solution is a systematic and sustainable structural, institutional and social change.....which obviously will take much longer and require several policy experts, social scientists and engineers and ofcourse politicians...

Fo eg: I am considered to be a Hindu because I was born into a Hindu family. That is impossible to do with the Congress party and Sonia at the top. What is needed are people who can identify with Indian aspirations, not a European woman who married well and her son whose birth has handed the prime minister seat to him.

I totally agree with this. But they have a vice grip on the rural North India as I understand. If possible they must be butted out of power or transformed/galvanized into symbols of national unity. (< But that is a last resort)

F, my heart burns thinking about the disservice that these people are doing to a billion of us. I just want every other Indian's heart and belly to burn as much...once it does change will definitely definitely come.

They shouldn't feel any guilt because nobody under 75 had anything to do with British India. A person should take responsibility for their own actions, not those of their family or country unless they were a part of it.

Then we must not feel any pride in the travails of our freedom fighters since we didnt have anything to do with the movement.
