i started college as a pharmacy major actually...i don't think i settled for mediocrity at all. i'm extremely happy in my field, just like you are. i wasn't in it for the money.

i consider settling for mediocrity to be sticking with a job you hate because it's easy and you didn't have to try to get there. i did try. i could have been a server my whole life, but i went to college to do something more. that's not settling.

i work 190 days a year (some work up to 220, but not in my state), 40 hours a week, and i make 35k yearly. $35,000 divided by 190 days is roughly $184 a day, divided by 8 hour days is $23 an hour. this is, like i said, before taxes.

honestly, i knew that someone would challenge me, and quick_thinkfast is clearly just ignoring facts that most people know about how many hours teachers work. everything he's saying proves he's an idiot. yeah, he makes a lot of money, but he's a piece of shit human. i'd rather be poor, teaching kids, but a decent human being.

that's really unfair. you're acting like people only have jobs to be extremely rich. i graduated elementary ed, and i'm looking at $35k if i'm lucky, which is about $23 an hour (before taxes). if i wanted to be rich, i'd have become a pharmacist or a doctor. i like teaching and working with kids, and that means i get paid less, but it doesn't mean i'm settling for mediocrity.

i have one kid who does purposely try to fuck my shit up sometimes, and then other days he's totally nice. and stevo, i too, wonder why someone would do that. i was always cooperative with student teachers.
