Amazon announces that it has reached a licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures that will enable Prime Instant Video customers in the U.S. to stream hundreds of new hit movies over the next three years. by PrettyBoyFloydin entertainment

I'm not sure how good they are at mobile development. The Amazon Appstore is such utter shit to use that if they weren't literally giving away free apps from inside of it I wouldn't even bother.

You can also do this with sheets of cardboard, which you can probably find in a dumpster.

shirt colors are dark and sad, shorts are light and happy. A shirt with the same palette but with more white than blue would look waaaay better.

Nice enough for a job interview? by ZombieTrayvonMartinin malefashionadvice

[–]kerbuffel -2 points-1 points ago

Okay, unless you're interviewing at the Pleated Pants Lobby, get some flat front chinos.

As for "good enough for an interview"... gonna say no. I can't think of a company that'd be good to interview for. That's a decent business-casual outfit, but if you're interviewing at a place that's business-causal you need to be wearing a suit. I usually go a bit punk rock and wear a grey suit with a red shirt and black tie, but I work in software and no one really cares what I wear anyway.

If you're interviewing someplace where every wears a t-shirt and jeans to work... that's tricky. A suit would be overkill, but never go into an interview not wearing a tie. Get some flat-front chinos and put on a slim (but not super skinny) tie. Something with some flair -- a solid color you don't normally see (pink, lime green) or a pattern that's a bit loud. Pair it with a white shirt.

Why the hate for bootcut style jeans? by caternetin malefashionadvice

It was popular back when wearing hoodies under blazers or wearing t-shirts over regular shirts.

oh man, that's not cool anymore? I didn't get the memo. :(

My first prom and my first time wearing a suit. How did I do? Any suggestions? by jordanparsonsin malefashionadvice

[–]kerbuffel 1 point2 points ago

Alright, well, a rented tux will never fit perfectly, and if this is your first time wearing a suit, you don't sound like the type that buying a tuxedo is a sound fiscal investment for. Plus you look like me when I was going to my prom, so you're probably going to fill out a bit, so buying a well fitting tux now will only last you until your next prom, if that long. Even buying a suit you'd wear again you'll outgrow before too long. So let's ignore the fit.

Lovin' the cuff length. The shirt cuff is sticking out the perfect amount.

Hate the tie -- that collar is made for a bow tie, and what you're wearing is too wide anyway (especially since the fat part is hidden under your vest, geez louise!)

Anyway, here's some things you might want to keep in mind. This is more or less a list of things I should've done in high school:

  • Echoing comments here, get a haircut. Splurge a bit and go somewhere nice, just for this one time. Find a couple celebrity haircuts you like, bring pictures, have a conversation with the stylist about what you like and what would work for your head. If they aren't willing to work with you, leave. After you get the cut, ask them what you should ask for to get this haircut again (ideally, you can go to the local barbershop and get the same thing.
  • Work out a bit. I'm not saying hit the gym every day, but a simple push up routine is something you can do in your bedroom a couple times a week and it'll help fill out your shoulders arm a bit so you fit into rented tuxes a bit better. (If you do want some real work out advice, check out /r/fitness).
  • Bring a girl that isn't your mom (and probably not your sister either, depending on how good your sister is at making you look good) next time you need to get new glasses. I think chunky Elvis-Costello-ish frames look good on everyone, but that's probably not true. I've found that the people working at the glasses places have less interest in making you looking good than they do in making you spend a shit ton of money, so take whatever they say with a grain of salt. Try on at least a dozen different looking pairs before you start deciding what you like.

What do you think MFA? by thatguy147in malefashionadvice

[–]kerbuffel 1 point2 points ago

I hate how no one ever smiles in their advice shots. Come on, people: a vacant emotionless gaze is not your default expression.

So, your hair and lack of accessories make you seem a bit 'plain' but those colors are loud and boisterous. If you want that to be your style, get a funky haircut and some bracelets.

That said, you can still rock loud colors without peacocking all over the place. Just pair the shirt with regular blue jeans, or the green pants with a plain white tee.

Also, invest in some quality boxer briefs if you want to rock pants that tight. Your junk is playing too prominent a role.

What can be the male equivalent to flowers? by A_Door_Bellin OneY

[–]kerbuffel 0 points1 point ago

A girl I dated once sent me some lucky bamboo in the shape of a heart, which was sweet.

Baked goods are good too. And having either delivered to his office is great, since guys like to show off having great girlfriends too.

And definitely more serious than flowers, but the best gift I ever got from a girlfriend was silver collar stays with lyrics from a song by the band whose concert we met at.

I am interested in applying to some UC campuses, and am guaranteed acceptance to a few, so my bachelor's degree would most likely come from a UC when I end up obtaining it.

Study abroad when in college. Almost all universities have some sort of exchange program. It won't get you over there, but it'll open doors for you down the road.
