New rumor that turns everything upside down... Pep open for a job by sc0tt3hin LiverpoolFC

[–]joshcandoit4 0 points1 point ago

Firstly, I don't think he should have been sacked. I love the King and support him fully. That said, he would have been sacked after half a season at Barca, in a hypothetical crazy world where he would have been hired in the first place. Obviously I don't want to say a bad word about the club, but in all honesty while we try to be subjective we have to be able to admit that the expectations of Barca are quite a bit higher then that of Liverpool at the moment. Trust me, Henry and FSG (and possibly even more importantly; the fans) do NOT expect Liverpool to win league next year (or CL if we were in it, though Europa seems attainable). The main expectation next year will be to qualify for CL, while hopefully picking up another trophy in one of the cups along the way, which is quite a bit less pressure to the likes of Pep who was more or less supposed to win CL and League and Cup.

Can someone explain to me why Gerrard & Lampard don't work well together? by USDA65in soccer

Fuck, he hasn't even been called up for nearly enough. Only about a dozen caps, right? Not many for a 31 year old.

No, he's right. Because then the Earth would cave in on itself due to the massive weight of their collective balls. Footballs, that is.

Who knows? AVB was sacked before Pep said that he was taking a sabbatical, so that means that he probably wasn't too interested in Chelski. Plus, if he quit mostly because of the "stress of managing one of the top football teams in the world", then he may actually welcome the chance to take a team that isn't in the CL (and has lower expectations then a team like Barca) and try to build them back up. Plus, who the fuck would expect (as your comment details) for one of the most successful modern managers to quit arguably the best team in the world and take up an 8th place team who is only going to Europe because of the Carling cup? It seems so unlikely that it would be the story of the year, and, well, some people like making the news.

I don't think it is likely, by any means, but if you think about the extenuating circumstances it isn't impossible.

I completely agree, just wanted to clear up the misconception. I was skeptical as well, and think they did a fantastic job. YNWA.

Yeah, but you said you were skeptical about an American brand making a decent kit, and I was pointing out that Nike is an American brand who has made several decent kits over the years. My point was that it would probably be more accurate and rational to be skeptical of a sports manufacturer who has never made a football kit before as opposed to implying that the nationality of that manufacturer has anything to do with whether you should expect them to design a kit that meets up to your standards.

I'm very new to Radiohead, but I recently became a fan after listening to "OK Computer". Where else do I start? by analcarbombin radiohead

[–]joshcandoit4 11 points12 points ago

I didn't see this mentioned yet, but make sure you listen to every album with a pair of decent headphones!!! There are some bands that this is essential for, and Radiohead is one of them. Even if you think it sounds great coming out of your laptop speakers or whatever, you are still missing a TON of the elements that make even the most respected musicians say Radiohead is easily among the top artists in rock/electronic history. This is ESPECIALLY important for Kid A. The best example is the title track off that album. It is a completely different experience with good headphones vs. any other delivery.

A leading Liverpool supporters group, 'The Spirit of Shankly', demands answers of FSG. Saw this article on Eurosport, figured you guys would like to see.. by TehORCAin LiverpoolFC

You should contact them and tell them just this. Seriously, this makes Liverpool fans look very bad and impatient.

Nike is an American company, and they have been making kits for a long time. Some not so decent (like this years Man U) and some more decent.

Also, If I remember correctly the last time a player swaped one red shirt for another was the early sixties. This more then likely will not happen.

If Di Matteo stays at Chelsea, Torres would probably want an exit. Thoughts? by NFAKin LiverpoolFC

[–]joshcandoit4 1 point2 points ago

Yes, but (at least in my opinion) there should be more to a club like LFC then just doing and signing whatever wins trophies. Torres left us at a rough time because he didn't want to take the time to help make LFC better, he wanted to win trophies for himself. IMO that is enough reason to not want him back, although I hope he does well in the future.

Fernando Torres quoted as considering Chelsea exit, disappointed at not being given Champions League Final start. by ghostridethewhipin soccer

[–]joshcandoit4 -1 points0 points ago

I'd thank the heavens for Xabi, but Chelsea can keep Torres. No disrespect to him, and I wish him best in the future, but I would be very disappointed if he were to transfer back. It would be like a girlfriend leaving you for someone she thought was better, getting dumped by that guy, and then taking you back.

Betting suspended on AVB joining Liverpool as next manager by nikcubin soccer

Ok, I keep hearing that, but not one person has provided a source (about Suarez leaving if Kenny was sacked). I don't mean to be a skeptic but can you please show a reliable source of him saying that?

[–]joshcandoit4 7 points8 points ago

What the fuck are you talking about? The ONLY player you have to win over is Gerrard, Cara is fine not starting all of the time. He knows Agger and Skyrtel have CD locked down. Liverpool's locker room is NOTHING like Chelsea's.

[–]joshcandoit4 8 points9 points ago

No, you would have to be literally insane to bench Gerrard. I'm not trying to get into who is better out of Gerrard/Lampard/Terry or anything like that but I will say firmly that Gerrard is a much more vital part of our team then Lamps is for Chelsea. Without Gerrard, we recently fielded a midfield with average age of 22 I believe.

Maybe in regards to English offers, but I suspect to teams like PSG and Madrid, they don't give 2 fucks about it.
