My two cents say: avoid Tolstoy until you've read some Dostoyevsky like Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment, or Notes from Underground. His writing is more plot-driven than a story built upon reactions and relationships like Tolstoy's storytelling seems to be a lot of the time. (this could just be a generalization based on the couple Tolstoy books I have read)

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in a reported locker room fight. How does this affect Bayern Munich's chances against Real Madrid in the second leg? What are the chances Robben resigns with Bayern after many disputes with his teammates and bayern boss Jupp Heynckes. by dreday22in fcbayern

In some weird, messed-up part of my brain I want to believe that this will somehow help them to win the next match. They all seem so passionate about winning in comparison, and I can at least hope that this inner tension will redirect itself on the pitch toward Madrid. Since Ribéry and Robben play on opposite wings, I can't see this drastically impacting either of their performances.

I do worry about the Robben situation, though. He has been rather vocal about his disdain for the way things are happening at the FCB, and I can only assume that this will further those feelings.

The most important thing for Bayern right now IMO is the left flank. Keep Alaba and Ribéry working the ball forward and Gomez open in the box and you've got yourself some sure-fire goals right there. Kroos, Schweini and Müller seem to have the center on lock, and Lahm is covering almost the whole right side by his lonesome. Robben has pretty much just done whatever he wants anyway, so "keep on keepin on" I say!

I'm using the politics of America as supporting argument to exhibit that there is a logically-thought-out argument behind my assertion instead of slinging unsupported claims that rival the very things I am speaking against. This is clearly not the only issue being addressed in my response.

Again:

I'm not saying that ALL Americans are like that, but, on the whole, we don't seem to value logical thought as much as many other advanced Western civilizations."

I greatly appreciate the efforts of Neil DeGrasse Tyson and the other intellectuals in the US. But the problem in America is that "ANTI-Intellectualism" has such strong roots. Not that wikipedia is an infallibly credible source, but there is an entire section on American Anti-Intellectualism through the centuries whereas countries from Europe share a section with the rest of their continent with a much larger time-span which suggests a smaller sample of such thinking patterns.

Like it or not, Americans are predisposed to reject intellectual thought. Consider yourself lucky to have moved to a higher plane of thought, and consider it your duty to help others to do the same.

I never said anything about specific countries. There's a lot of countries out there that do have plenty of hate for Americans for purely being American. There's a reason we have to tell people we're from Canada when traveling abroad...
