Changing how my character plays at a fundamental level? Yeah, I'd call that customization. The limit of six skills means that you have to determine what utility to bring with you, and how you will deal your damage. Some of the runes may not change how the skill works that much, many of them really change the skill. There are far more distinct builds in Diablo 3 than in 2.

The actual combat is a lot more fun and a lot more varied than in the previous games. Every level you get new skills or new runes to keep trying new things.

When you defeat elites on Inferno (EDIT: and Hell [EDIT: Okay, you can get it as long as you're 60, am I done now?]), you get a stack of Nephalem Valor. It is ~15% free magic find (and possibly gold find). This is the make it so boss runs are not the most efficient way to farm top level gear.

Alistar has very strong ganks, but I want to say he has a somewhat weak clear time. I'd definitely jungle him over Shen, who is very safe in the jungle, but about as slow as Anivia in a foot race.
