How to combat the scalpers on Craigslist? by iSunMonkeyin Coachella

[–]iSunMonkey[S] 0 points1 point ago

Nope. I've never ever ever bought a ticket and sold it to make some money. I've purchased extra tickets and sold them at face to friends when I didn't/couldn't use them.

Scalping is illegal for several reasons. The companies who are allowed to "scalp" (if you can call it that) are required to follow certain regulations. You, the scalper, aren't required (and probably don't) follow any of those requirements. So, even though this is America (excellent point, by the way) where profit isn't illegal, scalping is [illegal].

You're allowed to be pro-scalping if you want to be. You're also allowed to be pro-theft and pro-murder. I'm not disallowing anything. I'm saying it's morally reprehensible to condone that kind of stuff, no matter how you try to justify it.

Moderation does not transform illegality into legality. Saying you scalp just to cover your actual ticket doesn't justify it. There are people who only rape once, and they are criminals (to a lesser degree albeit) just as serial rapists are.

I don't support scalping. I support selling services and items on a legal, fair, monitored market. North Korea derp.

Here is what's called a Punnet Square, which will (hopefully) explain to you why scalpers can't legitimately debate scalping. The only group that can both support and argue against scalping is the 'non-scalping' group, as you can see. This group is able to see both sides of the argument. The bottom-left group cannot exist. You cannot be opposed to scalping while performing the act yourself; it's just not logical.

You only condone it because you do it. You make a terrible person.

No wonder you support scalping. You're a scalper yourself. Your argument is invalid.

What myths about health/body are people the most stubborn about holding on too, despite the lack of any evidence to support them? by BriMcCin AskReddit

I eat exclusively organic, in-season fruit/vegetables (which are delivered to my door) and spend less on them than I would have at a regular grocery store.

We can debate philosophies, if you'd like, but the reason I hate scalpers should be pretty obvious.

Their buying tickets in bulk obviously limits the availability of tickets to other would-be Coachella-goers. It'd be interesting to know how many people were denied tickets on Thursday; and then compare that to how many people bought multiple tickets, with scalping in mind.

I understand that scalping might be around forever, but that doesn't justify it. Theft will also probably be around forever.

Messing with the scalpers takes 5 minutes out of my day.

It's no longer a great thing, imho. It's become a festival of reckless douchebaggery, and the atmosphere was 95% of why I used to enjoy Coachella.

So, other people have complete impedimentary power over my enjoyment of it, as it is the behavior of those people that I no longer enjoy.

And, I didn't say that everything was bro-esque. The "DGAF" mentality was just too prominent this year, and it's gotten worse every year.

I'm actually probably never going to Coachella again. Too many bros.

$20 a week? I'm thinking hardboiled egg whites and various veggies.

Guys, I've got a confession to make... by domcakesin Coachella

[–]iSunMonkey 1 point2 points ago

Saw a guy passed out near a trash can and thought, 'that guy needs help'. So I started walking toward him to see if he was ok. As I am, some guy with wraparound sunglasses, a flat-billed cap, and a goatee leaps over the poor guy's body, rips his shorts down, and farts in the guy's face.

It might seem funny, but that was the last straw. People being shitty to people bums me out. Coachella isn't a great environment.

Check out Lightning in a Bottle.
