no one's self esteem should be based on whether or not men find them attractive.

Dealing with drag as a plus sized cyclist? by bossesjoein fitnessplus

[–]hlkolaya -1 points0 points ago

rule #1: anyone who mentions the law of thermodynamics or the laws of physics when it comes to bodies understands neither those things nor human bodies.

as far as drag- and I know you're a troll, but I'm going to answer anyway because it might actually help someone else- I agree with emma- acceleration will take more effort, but this will also build greater strength so it will be easier over time and your legs will be so strong that you can simply kick any asshole who says fat people can't be active and fit and teach them a lesson (note: i don't actually condone violence- please don't kick anyone.. but feel free to think about it when dealing with sizist assholes). Your momentum will carry you further on a flat or downhill surface. again- uphill will still be tougher, but it'll only make you stronger.

squats- i know this is a big thing in a lot of fitness/weight lifting circles, but my physical therapist told me to never do squats- that no one should do them.. that they're horrible for the knees and just not worth it.

"Because I have large breasts, it’s like I’m public property. 'It’s okay, she’s not a real person, just look at those breasts'." by MalGoriumin TwoXChromosomes

fat people get this a lot to. total strangers touching you, telling you what you should or shouldn't be doing, flat out making comments about your sex life (from both ends of the spectrum- fat fetishists and fat haters). I think anyone who has a body that is hypervisible deals with this crap. It makes me just really dislike people sometimes..

How do I get a healthier lifestyle without feeling bad about my body? by wildhorsesin BodyAcceptance

[–]hlkolaya 2 points3 points ago*

well, you may not have an eating disorder- but someone who deals with eating disorders may still be more useful to you since you do have disordered eating (feeling guilt over food), exercise obsession, and invasive thoughts about weight and thinness- so you may be on your way to an eating disorder or, even if you're not, an ED specialist will understand better what you're experiencing and know better how to help.

I'm not sure how health care in Germany works, nor do I know how it works for someone who isn't a German citizen- is there any kind of financial assistance available?

I need help accepting my teeny boobs. by KiraOsteoin BodyAcceptance

[–]hlkolaya 1 point2 points ago

I'm in the exact same boat as you. for my size, my breasts are not as large as every other woman I know anywhere close to my size. In high school I did know one girl who was as large as I am now with very small breasts.. I saw her a few years later with her boyfriend and thought "hey- maybe boob size doesn't matter as much as I thought it did"

Your breasts are probably never going to bounce or curve or jiggle like you want them to- we all have something about ourselves that we hate and will never be like we want it to. Those things just have to be accepted. I still have difficult days when I look at other women, especially plus size models and feel really down about my breasts- but it passes because I know that, in every way that matters, they're just fine the way they are even if they don't fit some expectation or ideal.

what country are you in now? if you're in the US there are clinics that do sliding scale fees that you could look into. You can ask over the phone if they have any experience with eating disorders/disordered eating before you make a decision.

I think that you need to perhaps see a therapist- obsessive exercising especially with regards to weight can sometimes be classified as exercise addiction or as part of an eating disorder (especially since you also mention guilt over food). What if you took a class? that way your ability to do that particular exercise (i think dance would be a good one) would be limited by how often the class was.

You say that 1-2 times per week wouldn't be enough to become thinner (or, as you put it, look visibly fit, but fitness isn't necessarily a visible thing), but that's why a class is probably best- you need to stay away from exercises that will trigger obsessive thoughts and guilt over food or your weight.

the diagnostic age is 4.. but I always did think he was just an energetic kid! All school year we've been working with his teachers, his school nurse, his principal, his school psychologist, and his assessment team. He had a wiggle seat (so he could move while sitting), extra movement breaks, extra attention from his teachers. They gave him his own desk away from other students so that he'd be less distracted- even when standing at his desk away from the others he still never stopped moving. The teacher has gotten to where she's afraid to be in the class alone because she can't take her eyes off him without being afraid he'll put himself in danger- everyone who's worked with him has said that he's not trying to be disobedient or defy instructions on purpose- but rather that he wants, really hard, to be able to focus and listen and just can't. He even got so preoccupied with doing well that he started making his own charts for how good he was that day. I've also had to pick him up from school twice in the past couple of weeks and he's been to the office for alone time twice more that I didn't get called to pick him up.

as for if he's bored- sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't. Overall he loves school and he loves learning and he really loves his teachers. He even asked if he could do the after school program because he loves being there so much.

We thought that once he settled into the school year and the structure that he'd be fine- but he never did. It's the second half of the school year now and he's not where he needs to be as far as being ready for first grade. some days he can't complete a single piece of work. They had someone come and observe him and in a 15 minute time period he stayed focused for about one minutes of that time.

When we finally decided that it was impacting his schooling enough to take him to the pediatrician I had the teacher, nurse, psychologist, and his assessment team all write letters to the pediatrician as well as fill out behavior forms. A kid who's just plain energetic won't meet the standards for an ADHD diagnosis- it has to do with more than that.

The body hair problem. by hairychickthrowawayin BodyAcceptance

[–]hlkolaya 7 points8 points ago*

I don't think body hair is the problem that everyone makes it out to be- in reality, people have hair (surprise!). The way human bodies are represented in the media- especially women and especially in porn is skewing our perception. Too many men have an idea of what women "should" look like that's not even close to the diversity of real women.

You're not being whiny- yours is a very real issue and it's hammered into women just as hard as some of the other beauty ideals out there like big breasts, tiny waists, or perfect skin. Find a guy that appreciates your body and has the knowledge or experience to know that bodies come in all different forms- including hairy.

what to do with hair between my ass cheeks? by bagordonin BodyAcceptance

[–]hlkolaya 0 points1 point ago

some guys would be. but they're not worth your time. I've found that almost everything that people tend to be self conscious about is common. If a guy hasn't slept with any or many women then he might not know the difference between real women and the media/porn portrayal of women (it's popular for women in porn to have their asses bleached- no wonder men have all these weird ideas about women are supposed to look like..). There's no solution that's not uncomfortable/painful, so I would say not to bother putting yourself through that when most mature men who are worthy enough to see that area, aren't going to care.

easy- get in shape if that's your thing. you probably won't lose weight, but regular exercise helps improve your health regardless.

Need vegan burger recipe that tastes like meat for boyfriend, any good recipes? by babybunny2in veganrecipes

[–]hlkolaya -1 points0 points ago

The only veggie burger that I've ever tasted that tasted like meat was at a Loving Hut. Otherwise.. i'm sorry, but you're out of luck. None of them taste like beef. Some "chicken" patties do a really good job, but not beef.. sorry. That doesn't mean he won't like a tasty veggie burger though- my fave are amy's burgers and they come in a regular and large size if he feels like he wants something that fits better on a bun.

the bread we're buying currently is from whole foods. it's about $4 for a short loaf.. which I guess isn't terrible but we do quite a few sandwiches and we're trying to control our budget. I haven't found anything "mainstream"
