Wikileaks has posted a mysterious encrypted file labeled "insurance." It's speculated that if anything happens to Wikileaks or Julian Assange, Wikileaks volunteers could send out a password for anyone who's downloaded it to open up the file. What it contains, no one knows.

I thought the idea was that said acronymed agencies already know what is in that file but don't want the public to know. If anything should happen to Assange, the pass would be released.

Reminded me of this when it first starts. I never realized the painter was using fractals until this.

He thought the most valuable work that could be done was to correctly educate the people (esp. the youth) of Athens, and to expose the harmful effects of the miseducation by the poets and sophists. I think he thought this was the most important thing he could be doing, and he saw Athen's miseducation as the root of all evil so to speak. I think he would have seen anything else as a misuse of his time and talent. Also, suposedly, the gods (via the oracle at Delphi) said he was the wisest man in Athens so he saw it as his pious duty to educate Athens. Also, he believed that earthly affairs are not really important compared to engaging in the dialectic and seeking the truth etc.

FFXI Forums: where are the good ones?

hairyforehead 1 point2 points 8 days ago[-]

Allakhazam is probably the most popular, and like most popular things on the internet, it is full of trolls and angry 12 yo fanboys. But there are still a lot of good discussions if you don't mind the occasional flame war.

Killing Ifrit Has always had a pretty loyal, hardcore forum community. Used to be best known for Dyire's amazing holiday event guides, but since SE just keeps doing the same events over and over...

Somepage Started off as just a barebones site with a lot of good info (especially on food effects) but has since polished itself up pretty nice.

But FFXI's wiki has slowly taken over as the main place to get info.

I'm know there is a bunch more that I used to visit but have forgotten.

FFXI's mechanics have been figured out for a while now thanks to the Japanese math wizards. Once someone posts a translation from a Japanese blog with all the statistics and equations on whether STR or ATT is better for monk for instance, every discussion on that topic in every forum pretty much ends with a link to that post. So mostly what people look up is what is the next step in the missions they are doing, or what is the respawn time on the NM they are camping which is why FFXIclopedia has taken over.

This was it for me.

Let me know if this is the plan you are going with because I'm only 2 hours from NYC. I'll take the day off to help out. These guys need a pounding in a bad way.

What's in the basket? Are you drying out your otter? Or were you picking up stray tribbles?

Sir Alec Guinness stated in an interview it was his idea to kill Obi Wan, persuading Lucas that it would make him a stronger character. "What I didn't tell Lucas was that I just couldn't go on speaking those bloody awful, banal lines. I'd had enough of the mumbo jumbo."

The fact that he uses ancient archetypes and mythic elements in his story writing makes it better, not worse in my view. These themes keep popping over and over, independantly, in every culture since the dawn of man for a reason.

Hell, if the Zionists can't even do it, (and FFS they are trying) the Republicans sure aren't gonna "steer" any reddit discussions.
