Add stems to crock pot, cover with oil, set on low, wait 6 to 8 hours.

-5 grams ground up roughly and placed in a pot or oven proof dish with 3/4 cups oil.

1.25 tsp baking soda
.5 tsp salt
Vanilla

Mix together, divide into 12 cupcake/muffin tins, bake at 300* for 30 minutes or until they're cooked.

Also, IMO you should aim to make oil and not butter, as butter has moisture and milk solids, and a bunch of other stuff that get weired when heated and cooled. Oil is much easier to deal with.

Dont worry about it. As long as the water is covering the jar by at least an inch, there should be enough pressure on the lid to prevent it from popping.

Also, butter/oil does not really expand much when heated, unlike water or ethanol.
