What is a fabrication area? How many areas in total? What is the most common gross story passed down from generation of meat worker to another?

How does transforming the Middle East into a giant tit solve anything?

A French parliamentary report is calling for a ban on child beauty pageants and children's lingerie, responding to international outrage after Vogue Paris published a provocative photo shoot of a 10-year-old girl. by [deleted]in worldnews

Not to mention that these pageants are magnets for diddlers. To quote Mac: "It's like throwing a picnic on the beach and getting pissed because the seagulls show up."

Perhaps 'Melancholia' got it right. Eleven months of debauchery isn't easy but it can be done.

What is your best "making a telemarketer go off script" story? by fermion72in AskReddit

[–]duke777 10 points11 points ago

This insurance company kept calling me and asking for Mr. Peter Choo. I am not him but they just wouldn't get it. Finally, I got fed up and next time they called asking for Mr. Peter Choo I simply replied 'bless you!' After this exchange went on for a while they got the message.

Not so much a telemarketer story but I thought I'd share.

[SPOILERS] Issue 92 realization by Compeauin thewalkingdead

My guess is that it'll go the way of World War Z. Think about it, there are at least four groups just in DC, which means that are a bunch more all over the country and there is maybe a semblance of a government. Rick's group was just too isolated and hardcore to realize the situation. I say that pretty soon they 'll start taking back the streets.

Greek woes drive up suicide rate to highest in Europe by gurpswuin worldnews

[–]duke777 -3 points-2 points ago

It's not. I should have said that it originated in the US financial institutions. It is important to make the distinction between people and government/politicians. However, if the US wasn't the US it would have gone the way of Greece when its financial system reached the meltdown point.

Greek woes drive up suicide rate to highest in Europe by gurpswuin worldnews

[–]duke777 -4 points-3 points ago

This is tragic! Greeks used to take pride in their country's low suicide rate. Imagine your father feeling emasculated because he can no longer provide for his family. Imagine your mother, who worked hard since her teens, having her pension slashed and worrying that she'll be unable to find another job in her 60s. These are just the light cases.

Greeks have been thrusted head-first into the cutthroat world of global economics and, it's no secret that, the only thing that counts in such system is the bottom line.

It seemed distant when people in China and India were killing themselves because of appalling work conditions. Now the US born-crisis is making this situation reality for even developed countries. For Greece's neighbors and other countries this is just another headline. What they should realize is that this is contagious and it can definitely happen to them, with Spain and Italy leading the way.

Scandals/WTF moments at your school? by hopefulMDin AskReddit

At my technical high school one of our senior projects was to raise broiler chickens and to slaughter and package them when their time was up. The chickens were sold to parents, faculty, embassies and other dignitaries as a way of promoting the school and also to fund a trip for the seniors at the end of the school year.

Now, the students weighing the birds were 'artificially fattening' them by putting their keys and fingers on the scales. We were all in it but nobody had the guts to rat them out. Turns out that adding an average of five extra ounces per bird is quite noticeable.

The school board had to send a letter to everyone who had bought them saying that the scale was broken since it is hard to admit that your entire senior class is a bunch of crooks.

In the end we all took the fall and were forced to take our vacation in a really crappy place while everyone tried to forget about it.

Our cat likes to flop on top of the cable box. I guess the radiating heat makes it the best spot in the house.
