Sepp Blatter wants penalty alternative. by bigmanlythreesomein soccer

[–]dscott7 0 points1 point ago

Alternatives:

  1. Team 1 keeps 5 players on the field. Team 2 keeps all the players it had at the end of OT (If they lost someone to a red then they only get 10) They then play for 10 minutes before switching so team 2 has 5 and team 1 has all its players. Whoever has the most goals wins. Unless the team with less players can manage to score one time in which case they automatically win.

  2. No goalies for 10 minutes of OT

  3. Bench only. You cannot play any starters, only the people on your bench. You won't have a full squad on the field either.

  4. Own goal. You have to score on your own goal.

  5. Five fans. Five fans are randomly selected to play for their team for 15 minutes of OT.

  6. Balls out. Each team gets two players that stand by their own goalposts, but out of bounds. As the other team is attacking into the box, they kick balls as hard as they can and try to hit the other team to stop them from scoring. If you are hit by a ball the other teams ball boys kicked at you, you are out of the game.

LPT: If you're having a fly problem in your home/apartment, make sure to clean up any flies you kill immediately by Saiyamanin LifeProTips

We kill them and leave them as a warning to the others. We haven't had a fly problem in a while.

Tips for getting rid of books? by 99percenteconomyin minimalism

Have you thought about getting an ebook reader? I did and then got rid of all of my books except for the autographed ones or the old ones that I was given by family.

I underline important bits and then put a little sticky poking out so I can find it easier.

"You must approach each test with the seriousness and passion that you would use to prepare to challenge your death. You must prepare -not to die- but to battle for your life in each moment with every faculty and power available to you."

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

I am a proud parent today. This is my daughter's award from the last day of kindergarten. by EspejoOscuroin books

[–]dscott7 0 points1 point ago

You said you were proud today. When you uploaded this it was May 19th. The certificate is dated May 17th. So clearly you were so drunk over how disappointed you previously were in your child so you didn't even know she got the award until 2 days later. I hope she didn't mention you in her acceptance speech.

What kind of job do you have that allows you to take weeks, possibly months, off to backpack in the wilderness? by spagheddiein backpacking

Air Force. 30 days leave a year, up to 60 in the bank = 2 months every change of station (every 3 years) if you figure I can use the other days occasionally to visit family and such.

If you could get rid of one social custom what would it be? by JackPhilbyin AskReddit

[–]dscott7 77 points78 points ago

I want to be able to wear my fedora and good cape with the hidden pockets out in public without everyone staring at me because then I get nervous and I start to sweat a lot and I put my hands in my pockets to hide the fact that they're shaking and then when I go to pull a napkin out of my fanny pack to wipe my sweaty hands on my spaghetti leaks out and falls on the floor and then I slip on it and burst into treats.

I'm subbed to /r/books and /r/minimalism and I made the choice to let my lotr books go. Except for The Hobbit which we had from the 1950s. But I accidentally donated that one too. So good on you for keeping part of history.

It replaces the tent not the sleeping bag. But it's summer so you could probably go with a lighter sleeping bag or a sleeping bag liner.

[–]dscott7 0 points1 point ago

It's a bag that you put your sleeping bag in so it's like a tent sack. They have a rounded hoop that keeps it off your face. There's not much room in them except for yourself, you may be able to read a little, but it's a lot lighter.

Getting rid of clothing by sorryforhatingin minimalism

[–]dscott7 2 points3 points ago

There is no universal number that will work for everyone. You've got to find what works for you. Get rid of stuff you don't wear first. Then get rid of stuff you rarely wear. Slowly work your way down to the essentials.

Have You Used Your Backpack Bladder To Drink Beer? How Was It?Would You Do It Again? by Altitude-blogin backpacking

I've done it. We filled it with beer on halloween. Don't expect to ever use it again. We had an old spare bladder from field training that we used. Taste is fine, just you won't be using it afterwards.

Summer is coming, can we have a discussion about minimalist travel? by akidwhoplaysguitarin minimalism

[–]dscott7 3 points4 points ago

Don't bring stuff to be prepared for every conceivable emergency, that's way too much stuff. Only bring what you can use as carry on if you are flying. 1x suitcase, 1x briefcase or small backpack. Or just 1x backpack.

The bag you are keeping at your feet is never used for clothing. All of that must fit in your bag in the overhead. There should always be space left in the bag at your feet.

Everything should match with everything else. That way you don't have to bring specific clothes to match with other special matching clothes.

You don't need to bring 3 books for a plane flight just in case you finish it. You can buy a second book at the bookstore for the return flight if you have to. Or you can use an ebook reader.

You don't need a computer, if you need internet your phone will be able to do it or they will have a computer in the hotel. Take your vacation time to get away from it all, not to be constantly wired in.

You can do laundry in the sink if you need to wash clothes.
