I do agree with you though. The apartment complexes they built here are disgusting and green street lacks a local feel with all of the chain restaurants.

Currently a student at UIUC...I can totally understand that if you grew up in C-U, you would get sick of it and want to move somewhere much more exciting like Chicago. However, I love being down here in C-U. Not because its that great of a town, but because I am a student, surrounded by 40,000 other students, in a great college town. Outside of being an undergraduate here, I wouldn't ever like to live here. But as a student...it's pretty awesome.

I also know that most C-U residents that aren't affiliated with the University hate campustown and the students...

I don't want to come off as ignorant or rude, but the whole situation you put yourself in is not logical at all. I know that education is extremely expensive but I bet you could have found a dumpy apartment off campus for a very reasonable price. Plus, if you couldn't afford any living expenses, maybe you should have gone to an inexpensive community college for the first two years and live at home to save some cash. Being basically homeless for a year in the sake of saving a bit on your student loans to get an overpriced communications degree seems a little silly. It sounds like your college experience has been pretty rough and I hope things are on the up and up for you!
