No. One cannot get the rights to "open an American Apparel" like they would McDonald's or anything. American Apparel is vertically integrated and owns each of its stores as opposed to franchising where they're all owned by different people.

How my wife perceives my sense of humor over the course of our relationship by Fluketyflukein funny

This is my grandfather's sense of humor, and it rubbed off on practically everyone in my family. When one person starts up saying something crazy, everyone plays along instinctively. I've had to warn my friends to never take anything my parents say to them seriously.

It's a greatly under-appreciated style of humor and I love finding other people who "get it."

My boyfriend moved to the states six years ago from Burma, where he never really celebrated birthdays. His dad never got him gifts, he'd never unwrapped anything, and he never even had a birthday cake! (His previous girlfriend never made a fuss about birthdays either.)

SO, for his big day, I got him two tickets to his favorite band and put them in a big box with a bow and handmade wrapping paper. I also baked a cake, keeping candles in my bag to light just before I got to his apartment. On the way there, there was a woman selling his favorite flowers, so I picked up a dozen. I was wearing his favorite outfit of mine, did my hair and makeup how he likes, and bought special underwear to wear just for him. I'm about a 40 minute train ride away, so getting everything there was a bit difficult, but when I got to his place (he thought we were just going out to dinner together that night,) he was so surprised and happy that he started to cry.

In addition, because it was his birthday, he was "king for the day"; I cleaned his house up, did the dishes, and let him have anything he wanted.

No one had ever made a big deal of his birthday, and that I had made him feel special was all he wanted. It's not anything crazy or extravagant, but I made my boyfriend feel loved and gave him something he's never experienced.

Thank you for the advice!

I've never heard of the "Schaum" books, but I'm glad they're inexpensive. I ordered the "Mathematics for Physics Students" and am excited to get it.

I'm a second-semester Physics student. Science has sparked my interest since I was a little girl, and when I took my first Physics class in high school, I realized how much I loved it. I even went and took AP Physics in my senior year for fun. Calculus was required for me, and I had a hard time, but since it was a senior class, the teacher didn't give tests, or grades, really.

I didn't realize, however, that what I loved about Physics was the algebra and basic calculus level classes. Now I'm in my second semester in college and I'm struggling incredibly with Calculus. This semester I passed, but only barely. It was devastating to have my advisor tell me, "maybe Physics isn't your thing."

Do you have any advice for me and others like me? Is science "not my thing?" I did very well in my Physics class, but I've heard that the Calculus gets more advanced as you continue with Physics. What do you recommend I do to stay involved in the sciences? I don't even know what I would major in if I can't continue with Physics.
