This happens a lot, because despite what we'd like to think, not much actually separates the average LGBT person from the average person. People will always be irrational, hypocritical jackasses and others will always have to work hard to show them where they go wrong.

The LGBT organization I volunteer (and in fact, intern) for isn't like this, and I keep thinking I'm really lucky on that point.

Reminds me, in a weird way, of the abolition movements of the American North pre and post Civil War. They wanted to get rid of slavery, but northerners were generally just as racist towards blacks as the south, but they didn't like hte idea of slavery.

It's a real mess sometimes, but we just have to keep plowing forward.
