Someone posted to /r/California a while back asking what we thought of gay marriage since it was voted down and do we support it, and here's what I wrote:

Gay marriage is nobody's business except the couple wishing to be married. If two people love each other, they deserve recognition regardless of which gender they are. I tried explaining to my parents that there would be no difference in their day-to-day lives in any way should gay marriage be legalized. You may see a few more rings on a few more fingers, but so what? Who cares? Why does it matter who's married to who? I also told them that it was once illegal for white people to marry outside their own race, and that my younger brother, their son, is in an interracial marriage, and couldn't be happier. Would they stop loving him if he married a guy instead of a girl? Would they prefer a white guy to a black girl? Where do you draw the line on what other people can do with their lives? Even if you have a problem with homosexuality, why on earth would you get ANY SAY AT ALL in what a gay couple does? Why does this need to go to the supreme court? Why are we even arguing over this? It honestly boggles my mind that we live in the 21st century and we're still going on about it. It absolutely infuriates me that my parents took away the rights of others; who the hell are they to pass judgment on anyone else? As though gay marriage is somehow a bad thing? You know what really burns me? That kids under 18 need parental consent to get married, which is fine, but two gay people need the whole fucking STATE to say it's ok? What the actual FUCK? Are you saying gay people are like underage kids who need special permission?? Why aren't people rioting in the streets over this? I'm actually shaking as I type this, I'm so fucking mad. Sorry to go off on a rant, but I'm really sick of this issue dragging on. Let people marry who they love, period.

Oh and btw, I'm a married straight dude.
