you might want to check your facts here. Many of the books credited as being written by Paul almost certainly were not (eg. Ephesians, Colossians, 1& 2 Timothy, etc.) - an idea held widely even by conservative Biblical scholars.

Also - this thread is disturbingly Paul-centered. Don't forget... Paul was not divine. We do not worship him or his writings.

Dan Savage: What would you say to good, LGBT affirming Christian churches? by Aschebescherin Christianity

I have a hard time picturing the Christ who died for sinners and encouraged the religious elite to show more compassion for social outcasts using a "let's all look forward to the day when I clean house" metaphor. Actually, wait... he did use a lot of "clean house" metaphors, didn't he?

Only, his "clean house" parables usually ended up with the religious folks referred to as chaff in the wind and weeds in the fire. Poor Pharisees. I'm glad there are no obvious parallels in today's society... ;)

and yet you imply that God loves some people less than other people. Does God love us less before we repent than he does after we repent? Is that what Paul - the "chief among sinners" who felt called to preach God's overwhelming love to Gentiles - would have taught the churches under his care? Would he have taught that we are saved by repentance... or saved by faith? Are we saved by works, or saved by the grace of God? Are we saved because of who we are, or in spite of who we are?

I agree that God's love cannot be taken out of context. I think we may disagree as to the context. I believe the context of God's love is redemption, not condemnation (see John 3:17, and the entire book of Romans, Galations, Ephesians, and 1 John).

That's pretty good, but I think Beverly Doolittle is the master. Check out "The Forrest Has Eyes" here and here
