DAE want a ghoul mode? by outlaw7in Fallout

[–]azripah 0 points1 point ago

It's the core region, it's like the soul of Fallout. Just love stuff that takes place there. It should be somewhere on the west coast, at least. Definitely not outside the US- Americana is one of the icons of fallout.

I, of course, like the idea of being one of those who snuck into the LA test vault, easy to work into the canon and it lets you see the pre-apocalyptic core region. But I suppose maybe somewhere like Seattle would be cool. Post apocalyptic jungle instead of desert after desert.

Hm, how about you're one of the group that goes into the LA demo vault. You'd emerge around the end of the 21st century, if I recall correctly. I think it should start about a week before the war, though. Give you time to tour the old world.

How about this: you live in the last few days before the war, go through a series of quests to get into a vault. A few cutscenes later, you venture out into the wastes in the last decade of the 21st century, and explore the early core region.

According to system requirements, I can't run either of these games. But Portal works just fine on my computer. Do you think NV would too? (I'm a technical retard) by Lucifers_Friendin Fallout

It'd run, but it'd run shitty. If you want to play the recent Fallouts, I'd say the best price-performance ratio is the 9600GT. Midrange card from a few years ago, but I can run 3 and New Vegas at 60 frames or so with everything turned up. Other specs are modest, Pentium D, 2GB RAM.

The easiest way is to be bipolar.

What would happen if two of your characters from different playthroughs met each other? by AOSx182in Fallout

[–]azripah 0 points1 point ago

Hm, all things considered, the Courier's age being adjustable, and his having been to New Reno, I suppose it's possible he met the chosen one. As she (chosen one) was a complete psychopath, it's quite probable they fought to the death.

"James Bond" character? I gotta try this. Be back in a week.

Can't see that happening. When the idea was brought up, I think the best explanation was

Fallout was never an apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic game. It was a post-post-apocalyptic game, about rebuilding society.

If they did it right, it'd be pretty cool, I suppose. It just wouldn't feel very fallout-ey.

The other elder scrolls games were over 200 years before Skyrim. Everyone in the previous games without some form of life extension is dead. It was Morrowind, by the way.

At what point did I define democracy?

NEW POLLING: 56% of Americans Want Legal Marijuana by erikNORMLin politics

[–]azripah 1 point2 points ago

The point is that we don't live in a democracy, this is not a government of the people, by the people, or for the people. This is a plutocracy, where money reigns supreme. You aren't terribly qualified to say democracy is a terrible idea when, from the sound of things, you've never lived in one, and know little enough about them.

Bush wouldn't have been elected if we lived in a democracy- Gore won the popular vote in 2000. The problem isn't democracy, it's the lack of democracy.

Should Theodore Roosevelt really be on the logo of r/progressive? by derfreiemenschin progressive

[–]azripah 0 points1 point ago

Yes, it's a pretty fair assessment that he was the first progressive president. He took charge after McKinley was assassinated, so it's debatable whether he could have one the first time around as a progressive on the republican ticket (the republicans then were what we'd probably call Libertarians now). But he was hugely popular in his re-election bid, and in 1912, captured the largest 3rd party vote in US history at 20% for the progressive party.

I'm about to go to bed, so I can't get into it all now, but if you're not well versed in Theodore Roosevelt, you really should read up on him. Amazing man, amazing president. If you're particularly interested in his progressive stance, I'd focus on the square deal, trust busting, and conservationism. He was also good on race relations.
