They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Yes and no. It looks more like a glorified portal page. You know... those that didn't work in the 90s. Now in the 21st century, they think it's going to work?

Weird... I don't feel it.

Quebec is trampling basic human rights to quash student protests by koavfin worldnews

[–]arch4ngel 86 points87 points ago

As a Montrealer too, I say :

Oppose or approve the student tuition hikes as you wish. It's your right. But the bill 78? It's actually taking rights away. It will be in effect up until July 2013. Up... until... there is another election. Read the bill. This bill could be used to take down any manifestation (anywhere in Quebec) that speaks against the government during its election campaign.

Hell... this bill could be used to attack Unions. Read the bill.

Wikipedia Summary. Complete bill

There was only one valid point on TV in that argument.

"It is unconstitutional."

Then you bring this to the table. That's it. Debate over. If anything you just say "We'll try it in court. I can't talk about an ongoing case".

Boom. Done. Over. No debate.

Made me think of the book The Forever War.

A thousand year in the future and to limit population, people get "realigned" to be gay and most of the population is gay. Totally normal. Hetero are the weird one.

I wonder if this book is banned in some churches in the Bible Belt...
