Why, Google? by vuxanovin Design

[–]andbloom 0 points1 point ago

Makes sense, I guess with as large of a company as Google, design is really more of general aesthetic thing than a specialty element behind the whole package.

It's funny because a while back there was an interview with a designer from Google. He complained that it was impossible working on projects because the engineering team would oversee miniscule details like changing something from 5 pixels from the edge to 7 pixels and test for the results of that small change. So seeing something like this really makes me glad I don't work for Google.

Man faces jail time for spending $70,000 that was accidentally deposited into his account. Even though the money was not rightfully his, do you think such action is fair? One could weigh that the bank did theoretically give him the funds and that it was their mistake. by Pugertin AskReddit

[–]andbloom 1 point2 points ago

This happened to a friend's friend of mine. The bank put $150,000 into his bank account, he immediately withdrew it and closed his account somehow. I call bullshit, but I remember a time when this kid bought my friend a new 52" tv on a whim, so who knows.

TIL that there is such a thing as uppercase numbers. by jbondhusin todayilearned

[–]andbloom 8 points9 points ago

There aren't upper-case numbers. It's a style of type, the smaller numbers are known as old-style numerals. It isn't necessarily that they are smaller but that they go below the baseline of the rest of the type. The rest of the numbers are just regular numbers.

We haven't had one in a while, so reddit, what is a way over-simplified summary of your favorite TV show? by twisterghostin AskReddit

A bromance about doctors, and an abusive alcoholic mentor.

I know probably a silly question - but Design not being my job I am puzzled and curious. What is the difference between "Photshop" and "Illustrator" and how are they used differently etc.?? by zenbytein Design

[–]andbloom 1 point2 points ago

He used incorrect nomenclature. Photoshop is a raster based manipulation program, images that rely on pixel information are known as rasterized graphics. Illustrator is for vector based graphics, it uses math to create the artwork.

A logo I recently put together. Any improvements I could make? by clifwith1fin Design

[–]andbloom 16 points17 points ago

It's like you took all the cool trends in design right now and put them in once place and added a script-face to boot. There is way too much here for it to be a logo. On a penny it would look like a bunch of lines that aren't legible. Reduce everything, get rid of information that isn't permanent.

You should watch the movie Friends With Kids. They do exactly this in the movie.
