Liverpool girl's letter tells David Cameron ‘I hate the government for what it has done’ after her disabled mum stripped of benefits by Feels_Goodmanin Liverpool

Liverpool girl's letter tells David Cameron ‘I hate the government for what it has done’ after her disabled mum stripped of benefits by Feels_Goodmanin Liverpool

[–]anagoge 1 point2 points ago

It was only after the ECHO intervened that the Department for Work and Pensions agreed to reinstate her benefits.

Today a DWP spokesman said “fresh evidence” in Mrs Young’s file was reassessed and she was now entitled to an increased ESA of £100 a week

Except of course "Stripped of benefits" is a much better headline. I hate it when the headline tells a different story to the story itself.

We have to specify that as we normally end up going to a few bars as well as pubs and if you get knocked back, you're screwed.

Not even Frank Klepacki could have saved that crap.

To be fair, have you actually listened to the orchestral score for C&C 4? Yes, live orchestrated music. You don't get that in any other C&C game. PLEASE have a listen to The Prophet's Ascension. You'll be very glad you did if you're a lover of soundtrack music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWox0SJ_GZM

There'll be one in about three or four weeks time.

In January last year, /liverpool had less than 200 members and the subreddit was full of LFC-related content. Today, it's managed to achieve eight fantastic meetups, regular quality content and a general sense that /liverpool is finally finding it feet.

This subreddit is gaining around five members per week. In comparison, Manchester is currently at 1,266, growing at a slower rate and has only just organised their second meetup. In short, Liverpool is more awesome.

Keep it up. :D

Every time I hear about a venue closing in Liverpool, it's usually you that posts it. I see correlation here.

Sorry, didn't realise you wanted to share. I thought you were getting your own place. Having not lived in the centre myself, I don't really know how you'd go about finding somewhere decent I'm afraid.

Coming to Liverpool! by AndyPockin Liverpool

A train journey will take you 2-3 hours for about £100

Bollocks to that.

If you book in advance of more than one week, fares can be achieved for less than £40.

Journey time is 2:08 (Fast route) or 2:30 (Slow route).

The moral of the story: Book your train ticket right now and pick it up at the station when you arrive.

  1. There is no real reason to live in the city centre unless you really do want to go out every day/night without having to worry about travel costs. The downside about this is that you'll be paying well over the odds.

  2. James Street and Moorfields both serve the Wirral Line and allow you to get to Port Sunlight. Liverpool Central is the main station in the city, but that will be closed until October for repairs so you may find the alternative stations to be quite busy.

  3. Short answer is no, you cannot cycle to Port Sunlight from Liverpool. However, Merseyrail is really getting into the whole biking thing so you'll at least be able to cycle to/from stations without much problem. Long answer is go via Widnes, Runcorn and Ellesmere Port, but obviously that's insane.

  4. Like anything, it depends entirely on what you're into. Liverpool is like most places really. It's usually just a case of trying a few places and getting a feel for what you like. Visit www.sevenstreets.com for some upcoming events and reviews on everything Liverpool-related.

  5. Stick around on /liverpool for meetups that happen every two months or so. The next one is due in a few weeks and the one after that will probably be in July. Might be a great way to get to know new people, albeit for only a brief period.

R4R I present a Solution of sorts... by bbmgnt77in r4r

[–]anagoge 0 points1 point ago

I was going to post exactly this thing, but then I realised that it's a bad idea. It's full of good intentions, but all you do is dilute an already small community. /R4R is like /Videos. You don't need "/funnyvideos" and "/dramaticvideos" and "/sadvideos". You just need videos. It's where everyone congregates.

Good intentions, bad idea, sadly.

Question: Do you have £50,000 in your back pocket or are you like the rest of us?

Without four or five figures to work with to actually start things up, you're not going to have much chance. You may however, have more of a chance at booking out an existing venue for a day or two every month, but you're still going to have to find X amount of consoles and PCs AND net connections. It's a serious cost to say the least!

Good luck with things, though, seriously. I'd be quite happy to help out in any way you need (I'm a designer - I can do any number of things).

Could I suggest you set up a blog somewhere? It'd be great to keep up with your progress and I think you'd gain more interest if people had a place to read up on how you were doing.

Don't forget the Reddit meetups that we have too! Usually once every two or three months. The next one will be in around four weeks time. Keep an eye out on this subreddit for more information.
