I went to Tech and I know the city
Hotels are cheap.
Big airport with direct flights worldwide.

Other than that there are few advantages to Atlanta over any other city. Try to explore some more, don't succumb to "oh this is different" biases.

Would I still fly to ATL if my girlfriend lived elsewhere? Fuck NO.

I personally use VIM & Word extensively. VIM for coding & Word for documentation. I must say Word's reviewing facilities are very good (The best).

If your can't stand word, then write everything in VIM, copy paste to Word. There's even a fancy VIM Emulator for word (google for ViEmu Word).

TL;DR: Stop wasting your time on silly arguments, focus on school.
