First of all thank you for all the kind tips and advice. I was so nervous but it helped me a lot to be a bit prepared.

My dad took me because the travel is So expensive. (It would have cost £18 each way if I went with a charity that‘s $56.94 for the trip to and from hospital.) I had a freak out because we were stuck in traffic and I needed to get to the toilet but Dad is used to that! It just showed me how much I need this treatment.

I took my sister with me. We collected the forms from front desk and eventually after asking a couple of people made it to the rheumatology day unit. The nurses were lovely and could see I was stressed. They couldn’t find a vein but after 5 attempts they did. They put in the catheter thingy and flushed it with a solution to check it was working. That felt a little bit strange. Then they hooked me up to the Remicade. It was…well boring. I had taken loads of drawing stuff but didn’t feel inspired at all. There were four other people having treatment so It was quite noisy and they had the radio on. I tried to doze of a few times but felt a bit self conscious but I took my fleece blanket (great tip) and was all cosy and not cold. The chairs are meant to recline but they all weren’t working which sucked. We got free biscuits (loads!) and tea. My sister went to the Whsmiths in the hospital and got a sandwich and crisps for me and her. That was nice. A few times I got pins and needles in my fingers but apart from that there were no real change to how I felt. Afterwards I had to stay around with the Catheter in my arm for 2 more hours to be observed.

Afterwards I felt really awake but exhausted. I came home and slept for a few hours. Right now I am feeling fine. I just don’t feel any different apart from a little bit sick. So I’m happy about that. All in all it was really good first infusion. I have the same in two weeks and am feeling positive. I am hoping to buy a cheap tablet Pc and fill it with games so I am not so bored or agitated.
