Any notable roadside attractions between here and Pittsburgh? by Kicker774in Columbus

If you have a chunk of time, check out The Wilds. http://www.thewilds.org/ It's a really incredible open wildlife habitat in Zanesville. It's easily a few hours of time, so it may be more than you want, but it is a fantastic place.

It isn't about gods or not gods. I would be happy to explain, but I don't think you honestly care. You just want to shit on someone for daring to dislike something you like.

Wow, odd. It was fine earlier and I visit that site all of the time!

To each their own. I don't mind Sanderson's style, but I couldn't take his pretty forceful views on religion I found in his Mistborn trilogy. I decided to take a break from him before reading any of his other books. I may come back.

Anybody running the Warrior Dash in Logan? by hukdonfonixin Columbus

[–]TrueBuckeye 0 points1 point ago

The Warrior Dash wasn't nearly as upper-arm intense as the Mudathlon was, which had a LOT of rope work, tall walls, and such. As a matter of fact last year's WD didn't have much at all. Mud pits, a big cargo net, lots of hills. I guess the cargo net is the most.

I still think you can do it! :)

Nah, I saw a ton of people who were in poor shape doing it last year. They walked, did the obstacles slowly and carefully, got muddy, and drank. You can handle that.

That one looks fun too. I talked to one of the organizers at the RUNCBUS 10-Miler and he pretty cool.

Running on pavement really does hurt my knees after 6 or 7 miles, but it oddly fades as I cross 10 miles. Maybe the pain was just overshadowed by the pain everywhere else?

I do a fair bit of core exercises to keep a strong back, which I think has helped. I need to do more, though.

Fair enough. Let me put it this way, I get my BP taken at least every month by the trainer/wellness consultant (I hate that term, by the way) and after lunch sitting at my desk it has gone from that higher range to a consistent 100-110/60-70 (the numbers I mentioned have come up quite often in the past six months).

Keep it up. The feeling of doing what you thought was impossible is really hard to beat!

2:26:27. I had hoped to finish in under 2:25, but I ran out of gas almost entirely in the last mile.

And the Cap City Half in Columbus.

Not much of a program other than run, then run more. I started by trying to do a mile without stopping. Then 1.5. Then 2.

Signing up for races was my way of pushing myself. "Ok, I'm going to get this 5k done without stopping once!"

"I WILL finish this 5k in under 30 minute!"

I tried to go for longer runs on the weekend with shorter 2-3 mile runs once or twice during the week. I looked at the programs that are out there but so many of them seemed to be about speed. I needed survival, so I just did my own thing.

If I can do it, anyone can. I fully believe that.

Overall activity, but my diet has massively changed too. Almost no fast food, no fried food, etc. I avoid white bread, pasta, and rice as much as possible and instead always go for whole-grain. I've also cut back hugely on fatty dairy like cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream.

Yeah, I know. My socks are good but I think my shoes are ready to be replaced... they have about 300 miles on them now. One weird blister that I get on both feet is across the top of the knuckle of my smaller toes. Just weird.

No, the Cap City Half in Columbus, but I know about a dozen who did the one in Indy. I'd love to do that one in a year or two.

I've been seeing my doctor at least yearly since I turned 37 and started running. He isn't concerned about my BP after having watched it decline over the years due to my exercise.

I get my BP checked monthly at work by our on-staff trainer/wellness coach also.

so, what's the best local morning radio show? by sodawoskiin Columbus

[–]TrueBuckeye 0 points1 point ago

Right, I grew up in Indiana and listened to Bob and Tom daily though high school. It was sort of amazed when I found it here on local radio.
