That's a cheap lollipop, maybe I'll go get you one for the effort you put to write that. I take it you are agnostic, or agnostic atheist to be exact?

To question how God's ethical values and moral judgement are dictated at the gates of heaven is something out of our perception. But in order to create balance and complete freedom to act with whatever moral code you choose to have, it seems most reasonable to me, that he doesn't intervene with humanity.

I didn't say the bible, I was referring to the God that you envision when you picture someone who created the entire universe

We lack the intelligence and to even categorize ourselves with the knowledge / intellect of a higher being is irrational. I do believe there is a reason for what you interpret to be a "piss poor job"

Uh, to further indicate what i meant Right to yourself- your personal beliefs that you are comfortable and secure with

Sharing your beliefs and learning - respecting other people for their beliefs and understanding why / how they've reached their beliefs

I've been answering questions from everyone for the past 2 hours, and the more I answer the more I am learning. What fold am I dragging them into, we are all free to believe whatever we choose...we are only here to discuss whatever that might be...

Response to your edit:

I felt that the claim that there is no God is just as arrogant as me believing there is a God.

I think God believes in everyone. I think my God believes everyone has the right to their own path of finding him.

I just don't like to categorize myself with concrete definitions. I feel like I am still learning and evolving my beliefs, and they change as I become more educated. Honestly I have the same problem people who enforce their beliefs on others, theists and atheists alike..especially with there is slander and disrespect.

Everything you used to directly refer to existence of God is subjective. Science has an always will be a fascinating field of knowledge but it has yet to answer the big question.

You're 5th bullet consists of hasty generalizations and although can be often true, I don't see it as any evidence against God

The point is the number of people who worship would SIGNIFICANTLY increase -and I can't imagine why it wouldn't be an astronomical increase. Then at this point, you notice a large portion of people acting good and performing the acts required to get into "heaven" on the PURE basis that they see God and know he is the real deal. In my opinion, it would be God's intention to let us find him for ourselves, in our own way and not interfere in which many would sheepishly follow his agenda for eternal paradise. That is assuming we are talking about a god that offers this paradise, of course. The reason I implemented free will into the discussion is because I was using it to refer to our ability to decide whether or not there is a God - i believe that the balance of how we "know" / "don't know" of his existence is his intended plan to test our faith.

How is that analogy anywhere near as relevant as a supreme being, who created the entire universe, coming down to Earth and holding the power of the meaning of life?

I'm in the "I am choosing to believe in something" crowd, rather than the "I choose not to believe in something because of the lack of evidence".

It takes faith to believe there is not something greater. You twisted my words when you say it takes no faith to not believe something, because I am stating that it takes faith to "firmly believe there is NO God"

And i'm not saying "mine is better, come join it!" I'm just saying

Not quite. I guess you could say I'm part-deist, but I don't see the relevance if you are comparing it to theism.

No, the being doesn't interfere actively in the world. Supreme, mostly in terms of just a higher power, which lies beyond our realm of understanding. The being created an intricate universe in which we would have no indication as to whether or not He exists, but through observation I can tell that religion is a tool that he has communicated with us through. Not directly, of course, but through the inherent goodness of mankind. One can't completely comprehend intent or reason, but with introspection one will ultimately find the belief they feel they are most comfortable with. I can't obtain direct information about this being, but anyone can understand that positive actions have a direct effect on us. Morality is something everyone has in common, regardless of religion, and to a certain point we each know what is "good" and what is "bad'. Religion is often associated with this utilization of values and positivity, and I think that's what God's purpose is - to give us the tools and resources to choose whether or not we believe in him. The hard part is when you have to reason cancer and starving children in Africa, which I always struggle to fully explain - but it is still within a frame in which I can make sense of it.

So he proves himself and doesn't give commands. Why would he do this? How would that effect humanity? It's senseless and selfish to assume he would interact with life and ruin the foundation of all intricate design.

If that something was the same something that created life and it's entire existence, the universe, science - you would have to be one crackhead braindead junky to not be marveled...

I think it's important to first establish where you stand on your belief (or lack of) is, are you agnostic atheist or gnostic atheist?

The only things that I can show for existence of my higher power are my thoughts. It's just the same way I used to be an atheist, it is all knowledge and reading/understanding that brought me to become a theist.

Being right to yourself is all that matters when it comes to your personal beliefs. Why should that stop you from sharing your beliefs and learning from individuals?

Faith is the same reason you would believe there is no God. It takes faith to believe in things what we don't know for sure. But once we think from a certain theological standpoint, we can understand how a God would exist. Just as you can think from an atheistic standpoint, and understand how a God wouldn't exist.

I didn't claim a God existed, but I did claim I believed in a God. It's up to you whether or not you wish you accept some form of God. In my opinion, he should not be categorized with a group of things or people who are unrelated to the creation of the universe.

Are you kidding me? If God, not just like a Bruce Lee or Einstein...but God. If he came to interact, science would be destroyed. Think about what that would do to humanity.

The whole idea of atheism and theism is based on belief, what are you talking about?

Supreme spiritual being - a higher-power that created the Universe.

  1. I think that if you are fully content with what you believe in, then you are right to yourself...and in my opinion being right to yourself is all that matters. I also think it is important to be open minded and consider every religion and how God could possibly put 1 religion in front of so many others. You have to think through it though, and it's interesting to see how many atheists have gone so far through the series of thought it takes to understand theists. It's a limitless realm of understanding, for both sides of the opinion

  2. You're saying "we're" not against God. There are plenty of atheists whose actions suggest they are against a God. If you ask me, there are plenty of reasons to think He exists. Just as there are plenty of reasons to believe He doesn't exist. If it seems so uninvolved, however, maybe you should look into possible reasons and look further into philosophical matters such as these - rather than ruling them out and concluding your beliefs on an unfinished note.

Why do you have to compare the existence of a God to an object or something unrelated to the creation of life? God should always be put in a category of higher-power being.
