Lamb has been on my "to read" list for ages. I haven't read anyt hing by Christopher Moore yet, but he is one of those authors that keeps popping up on my radar. I'll put Lamb next on the list, after I finish Pratchett's latest. Thanks for the kink in the pants!

Thanks. I ended up using Clonezilla - worked like a charm.

Thank you for your sympathy and advice. I may end up going with the latter of your suggestions, though I was hoping to not have to physically remove the drive. The adapters seem cheap enough (~20 @ Newegg), and as I would prefer to use my Mac for searching and sorting through the drive contents, that looks like the way I'll go unless someone knows of a way to avoid removing the drive.

Thanks again!

Dear IfYouLikeBlank [Music]: Consider checking the Last.FM page for the band you're asking about. There's a "Similar Artist" feature that is based on what people who listen to that artist also listen to. by YupYesYeahin ifyoulikeblank

<beginsnark>Or try Pandora, or Allmusic. Human beings are a completely over-rated resource anyway. What is the bloody point of this subreddit? <endsnark>

Wow! You are awesome, my friend. Thank you for taking the time and writing this up - it's people like you who make reddit (and by extension the world?) a better place. A clear, thoughtful and most importantly HELPFUL post is a joy to behold, and this one was a doozie. Would you mind if I messaged you for a critique of another piece?

No offence taken! When I set out to build, I tend to suffer from possibility paralysis in the planning stages - too much thinking, not enough doing. So I just jump in and make. I agree that a more thoughtful design might have helped.

To be honest, I don't know what type of plastic the strips are. A client sent a large number of sheets to my workplace to be trimmed to a specific size. They called it a filter, and my guess was that it was to be installed in florescent overhead lighting fixtures. After all the cutting was done, I couldn't bear to thrown the strips away.

I ended up stacking them up and drilling a hole wide enough to fit the chord of the light fixture (a 5 Below product which was "liberated" from a co-worker), threaded the cord through and fanned them out. The light connections were glued shut, hence the electrical tape.

I may just take another run at it with proper components (everything pictured was free), as you suggest. If I do, I will be sure to post it up. Thank you for the thoughtful constructive criticism. :)
