BC Town Bans Genetically Modified Food Crops From Being Grown In Their City by Victor_von_Doomin AnarchistNews

Ah excellent, the government telling you what plants you can and can't grow.

Apparently the HAARP manipulates time. by GravityKillsin conspiratard

I wish all government projects were as efficient as HAARP. It controls weather, earthquakes, minds and now time as well. As a taxpayer, I'm pleased that I got so much "bang" for my buck.

20 GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOODS COMING TO YOUR PLATE by bu51n355in food

[–]Sludgehammer 0 points1 point ago

I was going through my comment history and wandered back into this thread. Anyway, the "engineered death gene" aka terminator gene has never been used in a commercially available crop.

Edit: Also GM plants are the most extensively tested plants in the plant breeding world. If you expose a plant to fifty times the lethal dose of radiation, you can put it on the market with no testing whatsoever. Expose it to carcinogens that cause wild shifts in protein structure? No problem. Back cross it with a wild relative, that produces toxic compounds? No problem, ship it to the supermarket.

Well, to be fair, you usually get a few sprouts from store bought potatoes. I usually end up with a few volunteers from potato peelings growing in the compost pile.

My parents raised some chickens when I was a kid. It was surprising finding out just how dirty, stupid and plain brutal chickens were.

Cracking a couple of eggs for breakfast, when suddenly.. by Nuvoletta180in WTF

[–]Sludgehammer 0 points1 point ago

Don't worry, blood specks get into eggs fairly often it's just that the ones you pick up at the store have been inspected to cull any bloody eggs. Although, I'll admit, I have never seen that much blood in an egg before.

You could always put the extra broth in a bag and freeze it for later use. That's how I store most of my home made broth.

Note to self: Don't use oil to grease baking pans by Sp4min Cooking

[–]Sludgehammer 0 points1 point ago

I've had good luck with Dollar store cooking spray. I don't get why (since it's basically just vegetable oil and lecithin) but it works much better then oiling the pan. With a oiled loaf pan my bread would usually rip when I took it out, with cooking spray I can 90% of the time just turn the pan upside down to pop the loaf out.

Yep It's kinda odd but of all the "parent" breeds of citrus only key lime and mandarins are commonly seen in supermarkets
