Any Probat experts out there? by Sketch3000in roasting

[–]Sketch3000[S] 0 points1 point ago

Not fixed.

Everything has been cleaned/checked for obstruction.

We've been through everything and the only thing left to do is to try a newer/more powerful blower. They found a guy locally that owns an identical unit that he built from parts. He was also unable to locate the issue. The blower is the next step - but since it isn't my roaster/my cash I have no idea when they will try that.

Anyone have experience with the GSI Burr Grinder? by Sketch3000in Coffee

Thanks. I was avoiding reading reviews because I never find them to be helpful - too many conflicting reviews. r/coffee is a forum I know to trust the input from, so I was hoping for information from redditors.

Dear redditors, what's the most common error that foreigners do cooking your country dishes? by MrGestorein Cooking

[–]Sketch3000 0 points1 point ago

I struggled with this for a long time. Here is what I do that works great for me.

You will need a food processor, I've tried a blender and have never made it work.

2 cans of garbanzo beans - pour the beans and juice into a pot (add water to cover if necessary) bring to a boil and simmer for a couple minutes.

drain the beans but reserve some of the juice - maybe a cup or so.

Throw the beans into the food processor. Add garlic, lemon, tahini, salt and olive oil to the taste that you like. Add some of the cooking water to thin the mix and create finer puree if needed. You can also do this by adding additional olive oil. A good mix between oil and cooking water prevents the hummus from using too much oil.

I've tried using both canned and dried beans and not been able to tell a damn bit of difference.

Allow to cool and enjoy.

I have attemped the same recipe

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying.

I don't follow. You disagree that with so many people the subreddit should have more subs?

[–]Sketch3000[S] 0 points1 point ago

It is a strangely small subreddit for a city with 396,103 people.

I don't know if you can blame a paper for the lack of awareness. For my business, that was actually a huge resource to me. What it comes down to, in my option, is the lack of solid marketing venue.

Most people don't want to advertise in print anymore (other than big box stores), as sad as it is, it's a dying format. Salem needs a solid website devoted to all sorts of events, activities, concerts, film fests, whatever. Something along what you posted earlier for Downtown, but a resource devoted to all of Salem, not just one area.

Here's Salem's 'go downtown website' some cool things going on. will maybe fuel some fires for activity! by buy-my-cdin SALEM

This is actually an old website.

The "Go Downtown" Campaign ceased to exist roughly 6 months ago as the funds provided by the city weren't being used for too much good and the city stopped supporting it.

A new committee has taken over the "Downtown Partnership" which was the group in charge of "Go Downtown". http://www.salemdowntownpartnership.com/ That site is informative, but it's more geared to the business owners of downtown.

The current group running the partnership has only had is for a few months and as such still figuring everything out. They are doing some great work, but time is required for some big results.

They just started a downtown newsletter/website highlighting local businesses and happenings, that is called the Downtown Salem Buzz and you can see it here: http://downtownsalembuzz.com/

I was unable to attend, my free time is non existant at the moment. I did inquire about the meetup when I picked up that amazing Chicken Thai pizza on Saturday evening.

I'm not bitching about anything. I'm trying to suggest a positive change to help boost awaresness of local events, activities, new places to see, etc - while events are what seem to be discussed most often, I want to learn about all things Salem. For example, Improv Theatre every friday and saturday night at Capitol City Theatre - only $3 admission.

As far as contributing content, I posted about 2 upcoming music events - but they were both downvoted by you immediately.

I am unsure why your message is so hostile. I am just requesting people post more frequently to help inform about all things salem.

I think they are - I talk with all walks of people on a daily basis and have spoken to several individuals in the last couple weeks that were out of work and now employed. I have no statistical references for you.

If you operate your own lawn care business, why not just move that south? Certainly you can continue doing that if all else fails.

Curious question - for what purpose did you censor the restriction? Certainly that has no personally identifying contents.

Will do, I don't know anything about the owner other than the story I just told. I'll ask my friend to pass the word along.

[–]Sketch3000 4 points5 points ago

I know details - albeit they are hearsay from a friend.

Supposedly the guy that is opening it is independently wealthy and such in no hurry to open this - he also owns the building outright. The city came in and told he he had to put in a fire suppression system, with an underground water tank that had to go under the city streets - which the city was requiring, but not assisting in paying the $50,000 it was expected to cost.

After lengthy discussions, the city finally backed down and said it could be a system running solely on municipal water. Rumor also has it the city has required lots of building permits due to what he is doing on the interior, and those contribute to the time.
