This one is actually from Guild Wars 2. Specifically, it's an Oakheart.

Definitely. I'm not going to say "it's not good" because it certainly is, I just much prefer the newer trailer as far as music implementation goes.

The newer trailer from Gamescom always gives me chills. The piano piece and the way the video transitions is all amazing. I personally haven't seen another video that astonishes me as much as this one.

Can't stand that fan-trailer myself. IMO the music is really tacky, especially in the second half of it, and it becomes more or less a really awkward music video the guy just wanted to synch the music to.

No. Guild Wars 2 is not the Elder Scrolls/Skyrim. If you want to do that, then wait until Elder Scrolls Online and play that.

Heart quests suck in groups by Janksterrin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 3 points4 points ago

scale depending on the number of people in your party

That's what dynamic events are for? Heart quests help people to orientate themselves to the new area. Throughout this entire thread, you are riding a high horse and beating people for not posting "useful" comments and seem to have an underlining, pompous attitude of "Why would anyone disagree with me?". Believe it or not, your opinion isn't more superior to anyone else's, and yet you're acting self-entitled throughout this entire post.

I disagree. What should we do, just stay silent about the problem? If you don't care, hide this thread and move on. From what I've seen, these posts help the community to realize, even if for a short time, how distraught /new is in this subreddit.

Stop Downvoting Posts you Disagree with. Most of Them are Creating Conversation, which is what Reddit is for. by Blookiesin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 0 points1 point ago

Exactly. I usually browse /new once or twice a day for quite a while, trying to answer questions and see if there's anything interesting. I can't tell you how many times valid, new, intriguing posts get downvoted to oblivion even though they're discussions that have never been raised before. At least leave threads neutral, rather than dowvoting.

What really annoys me is how, often times, meaningful game-related questions get downvoted and hidden, but circlejerk-ey ones consistently mkae it to frontpage. Seriously, one of the top three threads on the frontpage right now is "GW2 ruined D3 for me". Others I've seen are ones like "DAE like the dynamic event system??" or "Is anyone else going insane over this game?", when the obvious answer is "yes" and anyone who disagrees usually gets downvoted.

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

That's actually incorrect. There are three plural versions of it: Octopi, octopusses, and octopodes that can all be correct in their own way. Here's a video to explain.

Patch Notes after last beta. by Ganktasticin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 1 point2 points ago

You obviously didn't play GW1

I'm actually a 50/50 GWAMM that has around a year of cumulative hours of play time on GW1 and have played it for seven years. I don't appreciate you automatically assuming that.

And no, I honestly don't see how their customer interaction is so amazingly better than anyone else's. Is it great? Sure. But to make it seem like they're the only company that "listens to their players" is just ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I think they're a fantastic company and I love them. However, they also have failed to communicate well with us at other times.

A ton of people have concerns about how the late game content will be, or the lack thereof. In this regard, they pretty much just say "The entire game is end game content" without addressing the notion that that still bothers a lot of people. Pretty much a "We'll do what we want" and left it at that. A second time, it was either during the stress test or the first BWE, but one of those times, I'm thinking the BWE, and something went wrong with the Beta. They took HOURS to ever make a statement on their Twitter or Facebook, anything at all. That's another thing that really annoyed me and a lot of other people. Someone, anyone, could have gotten on Twitter and just addressed the situation in less than a minute, but they took hours to do so. A third point, similar to what yourwoohoo said in his comment, is that they've been extremely shut-up about the problems people have in sPvP. Another notion of "we're not changing" even though many people had complaints/issues about some aspects of it.

Going with the first/third points, it's not just "10% of complainers" (made up statistics), but a lot of people have those worries from what I've seen on this subreddit. Calling them whiners is immature, when they're legitimate concerns people have. I don't think it's right of them to stand their ground on that, nor anything else that a lot of people are worried about. It would be dumb for any company to not add things/take away things when there's enough demand for either, and of course they do that because they're not dumb. But they've also been, in my opinion, rather pompous and blindly stubborn on other aspects.

Anyone else going insane waiting for this game? by GalileoWasDownvotedin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 0 points1 point ago

ArenaNet, more or less, has said that there is no end-game content. That "the entire game" is end game content itself. From that knowledge, people have the right to be worried that once you beat the game, there really won't be anything else to do. The only thing I can think of is beating the dungeons. IMO there should also be elite areas like there were in GW1 - Deep, Urgoz, FoW, UW, DoA, etc. It's a perfectly valid concern that many people have on here, and I don't think you can judge people who are worried about it.

Second thing I don't like is rather a cliche on here as well, but I can't possibly imagine combat being as fun and exciting at the end of the game as it is when you're unlocking the 5-10ish skills you'll mainly be using for every battle, with no way to change them outside just using a new weapon. Seems like it will be rather repetitive to me. Yeah, later mobs may require more effort, but there's only so much you can do with the same skills over and over again before it gets stale.

I also wish hot join 1v1s up to 10v10s were available at launch, but only Conquest and Wv3 will be. Sure, a few maps on each, but the objective/theme is the exact same every time. I'd just like to go in say, 2v2, and play a simple PvP like GW1 had with RA.

Finally pre-ordered, just have a few questions... by seeoharewhyin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 0 points1 point ago

They have made it quite complicated; I'll try to make it simple:

Pre-order: You have a physical copy of the game reserved, probably put down $5+ down for it, but it was probably not paid in full. A person who did this does not get into the BWEs, 3-Day headstart (only gives 1), hero's band.

Pre-purchase (what you did): Buying directly, digitally, from ANet (or a couple other retailers in-person) which forces you to pay in full and essentially go ahead and "buy" the game. This gives you all the previously mentioned benefits.

  1. Next BWE will probably be next weekend (not this upcoming one)

  2. To download the client, register your serial code, and go to this link and read what to do. You'll have to log in with your info.

Anyone else going insane waiting for this game? by GalileoWasDownvotedin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 0 points1 point ago

I did not say it would be a letdown. My point was that there are a lot of people that will be letdown because their having such blind faith to the game, and it has already happened numerous times.

I don't think I'd live on this subreddit daily, prepurchase the CE, or intend to make it my "main game" if I thought it would fail. However, similarly, I think the game has some major flaws that need to be addressed within it. Mainly with skills and end-game.

Kind of. Every profession had its own dance, but a lot of the other emotes were recycled across the professions. For example, male mesmers and warriors sat the same way. Same for Dervishes, I believe.

Patch Notes after last beta. by Ganktasticin Guildwars2

[–]Scorp63 -2 points-1 points ago

But the old chat system wasn't sufficient. The chat system is horribly, horribly broken. Chats could even overlap and you could talk to people in two different areas. I also never said it was "only bug fixes", I said "patch notes", too.

Again, I'm failing to see how this is different than any other game development. Things are being changed and added, what decent MMO doesn't do that? The game doesn't even have a release date, and is in Beta, so they're going to be doing this all the time because the game isn't even complete yet.

[–]Scorp63 1 point2 points ago

I've played GW1 for over a year of cumulative hours, and GW2 every chance I've had.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about, though. Who's to say it really is beating expectations? Us, the players, that have followed the game religiously for years? I'm not saying it's a bad game, but there are a ton of problems with it that I think keep it far from being as great as it could be. It won't stop me from playing it, but many people are putting this game on a pedestal and rejecting people who think otherwise.
