Do you mean 'should', as in 'unless I am dead I will be there' or 'should' as in 'I'm not coming, but I don't want to say that I'm not coming'.

;)

tut tut

I'm sure you can 'game' at another time, but there may never be another /r/newcastle meetup, if previous efforts are anything to go by.

;)

Megalogenis is the best thing about The Australian.

I have a hunch it's one of you blokes who's hosted the Bargearse torrent for six years, even without a single download in all that time. THANK YOU! by anotheranotherotherin australia

TIL that there were only 2 seasons of The Late Show. A bit like Fawlty Towers, of which there are only 12 episodes.

only thing you can do as a 'pro' is probably churn out good shots more reliable

I am a pro (real estate) and mentally I keep my work photography and hobby photography separate.

I don't particularly like the aesthetic results of real estate photography (although I enjoy doing the work), but it's a craft, in which I'm being paid to produce a certain thing. I do like making people happy with what I do, even if it's not a great work, photographically speaking. When I get a shot that pleases me, it's a bonus.

I explore the art of photography in my non-paid time, and I enjoy it all the more because there's no commercial imperative.

In my previous line of work (architect) I was unable to separate the work as such, and it made me miserable.

Lets organize a meetup? by Faragalin centralcoastnsw

/r/newcastle is meeting up (apparently), at The Oriental Hotel, in Bull St. Cooks Hill, at 1PM Sunday June 3rd.

It's just a 10-minute walk from Civic railway station.

Looks like those Sydney folks had it going. Can we have some local meetup here? by vicwolfein newcastle

Meetup should be in King Edward Park, if an over-18 venue is out.

It's just a blog with 'cool' houses. It's not really an in-depth architectural study.

The Italian Brick House looks great (I love Roman dimensioned bricks), but for one thing: the staircase gradient seems uncomfortably shallow.

I'm reasonably tall, so I'd want to take two risers at once, but the goings are just a bit too long.

It was coined by Donald Horne in The Lucky Country, and was originally meant in an ironic fashion. We are wealthy despite ourselves.

Australia is a lucky country, run by second-rate people who share its luck.

Yes, I skew and scale for the verticals, but haven't really for the horizontals. Obviously you can't skew all horizontals, so I suppose it's best to pick one in the middle distance and make that horizontal.

The one thing that drives me crazy is that it looks like most of the scenes are slanted

Pretty much all I do on site, (as a rule of thumb), is go for a diagonal across the space, with the camera as level as quickly possible. Then I correct for true horizontality and converging verticals in post-processing.

AFAIK this house was completely rectilinear in plan; sometimes non-rectilinear spaces look wrong whatever you do to them.

I have a feeling the effect that you are noticing (I see it too) is caused by the strong timber floorboard patterns...

A bit too HDR-y for my tastes

Are you referring to all the shots, or the externals only?

With the internals I compile a background with HDR, but then use layers over the background to tone it down a bit.
