As of now cochlear implants aren't a complete stand in for real hearing. They can only interpret iirc 100 or so frequencies while normal hearing can continuously from 20 to 20000 hz.

So stuff sounds much much different , though I'm sure these implants will one day get better, or maybe surpass normal ears.

Creating this immense uproar and incredibly hostile, venomous response over something that has hurt nobody and has no evidence proving that he lied is another thing entirely.

The hostile response has hurt nobody either unless you really like internet points. All he needs to do is make a new reddit account. There's no proof either way, so we should assume that he's lying for now. And so far, there has been no evidence from him to the mods to support anything he's claimed.

I don't believe half the things I read here but I don't go around starting witch hunts and flinging wild accusations based on nothing either.

I'm not partaking of the witchhunt. There are no wild accusations. We are still waiting for him to verify himself. There comes a point where things just become implausible. Right now the default should be that he's lying. Until he proves himself, which he likely won't. The one making the claims carries the burden of evidence. This guy needs to prove his stuff but he has zero evidence. Reddit is rightly skeptical.

It'd be hard to prove what is real and what isn't on /r/askreddit but I'm willing to bet most of the upvoted shit on top are the results of fiction. Unless you really believe this guy was a wow playing body building exmormon polygamist paramour, that's your prerogative.
