I disagree to an extent. I don't know about any armchair detectives here, but bringing up possible laws which may have been broken could be a good way to prevent this from happening to someone else.

Incredibly pathetic post from r/atheism. Cannot stop laughing. by sd66in circlebroke

It's only a felony if you try to change the value or try to make it unusable.

Girl submits pic of herself holding a cute kitty to r/aww. Redditors pounce on her over old self-cutting scars instead of enjoying cuteness. [x-post] (scroll to the bottom of the comments section) by Gnarwhalrusin worstof

I don't want her to do anything. You were the one who asked how to keep her scars from being seen. I just happen to agree that she was fully aware that the scars were going to be in that picture.

Aren't the plot resolutions usually in the season premier?

What is your "never again" brand, item, store, or restaurant ? by radbrad7in AskReddit

Anti-theist here, and I fucking love Chick-Fil-A. There isn't one close enough to me that I can eat it regularly, but their food is delicious. I totally get where you are coming from. Their lemonade is delicious, their waffle fries are delicious, their chicken sandwiches are delicious, and their chicken nuggets are delicious. I would eat there all the time if it was close enough.

What is something that society finds repulsive/taboo/etc. that you see no problem with? (Possibly NSFW) by ruckus666in AskReddit

I love my kids, but I wish I didn't have them. Here's the dichotomy: kids are awesome, but taking care of them isn't.

No, you invented PRG because you wanted to say racist shit, but you didn't want people to call you out for saying racist shit.

You didn't even finish reading the sentence before posting? It also said agnostics or rationalists. I'm pretty sure it was just giving possible examples, though.

Reporter, fired for stripping on the side, files gender discrimination complaint by MetalTeethAndABeretin Feminism

[–]N8theGr8 0 points1 point ago

This article has already been posted in this subreddit, but I'll post here what I posted there:

According to the article, she was fired for not disclosing a former job on her resume, not because of what she did at that former job. Essentially, she was fired for submitting a false resume.

Now, I certainly think the company could have looked the other way on this issue, but it's also possible that there's more to the story than is being reported.

[DIS/THY] A question about something mentioned in the sidebar. by N8theGr8in Thetruthishere

[–]N8theGr8[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure it can't. I'm speaking from my experience as a nuclear reactor operator, and given my knowledge of non-ionizing radiation (the category under which EMF falls), visual/auditory hallucinations would not be created. I wanted to withhold making the comment, though, because there might be a study with which I am not familiar, or the sidebar might just be talking about EVP (which is a form of pareidolia, BTW) or some other form of electronic interference.

TIL that requiring that scientists--even accomplished surgeons--believe in Natural Selection before you let honor them at a prestigious university makes you one of "Darwin's Bullies." How do you answer people who demand you tolerate anti-scientific thinking? by herbert1820in skeptic

[–]N8theGr8 5 points6 points ago*

No, it's not. I'm giving an example of someone famous with whom we are all familiar. His views on woo don't invalidate the other things he did.

It would be the Ad Hominem fallacy to say that his beliefs about one thing necessarily mean that all his other beliefs are invalid.

Baseball final forfeited because of girl at second base by UlkeshNaranekin women

[–]N8theGr8 1 point2 points ago

I understand your point, and I considered making it myself. While I would like for everyone to view people across gender/racial/etc lines equally, I feel like the best we're ever going to get is for people to act that way, even if they don't actually think that way.

I wonder how fair of a deal women that work with and for them will get?

We also have discrimination and harassment laws to protect them from people like that.

Personally, if I was one of the parents of the team that forfeited, I would certainly be complaining to the administration, although it's possible that's exactly why the parents are sending their kids there.

School was named after a woman, but they won't compete against one. Amusing.

Honestly, I'm just glad the school took themselves out instead of demanding that the other school take the girl out.

I've seen this item on the news a bunch over the past few days, and I don't really feel like it's a terribly news-worthy news item. It's more like OK, these guys have backward views about gender roles, but they're not really trying to force their opinions on others, so I'm not that worried about it.
